Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

NetherlandsThe room was to warm, and did not have any options to cool it down. Ground floor windows were left clear, allowing passers by to look directly in to the room. The bathroom was very cramped.
The location was easily accessible by public transport. The hotel is located close to an area with lots of pubs and restaurants.

ItalyThe shower was quite unpractical, you have to pay attention. I also didn’t like the common balcony, it felt uncomfortable.
It was really close to the city centre, you can easily reach it with the tram. There were a lot of cute restaurants near the hotel and it’s very close to a beautiful park and the museums. The room in small but quite comfortable and clean.

United KingdomRoom smelled very strong of some sort of cleaner. Very poor lighting in room- 2 room lights not working, 1 working but broken fitting… looks like not much maintenance happening. Area feels safe enough but uninspiring. Reception available with some poor but rather ill-informed advice on restaurants in the area. I arrived on a Sunday and found the train from Airport to Amsterdamy Lelylaan was not running; so had to take train to Amsterdam Zuid, then metro 4 stops back to Lelylaan… all up would have been a lot quicker and easier to have stayed in Central. Toilet extremely cramped- no space between loo and wall!
Handy for one tram route- 2 stops to Amsterdam Lelylaan station. There is a canal nearby which may be nice in summer. Some restaurants near the canal and a supermarket

United KingdomUnfortunately was not greeted nicely; first sentence was ''thought you were not coming'' no hello. (had delays with transport) Rooms are not very accessible if you are disabled ( only steep stairs ). The room had no bin and the hygiene was not great. Got told the restaurant was open 7am-11pm, yet when the time come to go and eat we were told the restaurant was closed, this was at 5pm. Cleaners would leave trolleys and items in hallways of the mornings so it was a obstacle course to leave the room/corridor.
24 hour front desk was very handy, transport to center was very close and convenient. Security into the building was good.

United StatesThere's no room service but there's a menu, some instructions on that would be better. Crockery in the rooms (spoons, forks) was not there.
The room was clean. Space was a bit small but good. The receptionist at night was good, he was kind enough to cater to me at 2 am. Cleaning staff was kind enough to make our rooms and do a great job!
