Not for those of a claustrophobic nature. Bedroom section a bit stuffy. Restaurant a little disappointing as it wasn't cheap.

Stavoren is an attractive little port and the hotel is right in the centre. We stayed in one of the wine casks which were quite a novelty. Although they look small, in fact you get a large sitting room and well-designed bathroom beyond the bedroom. Pleasant shared open area at the front.

    Nothing!

We had one of the best meals in Holland here. It was a sailing race weekend and they were very busy, however the service was still prompt and food delicious, especially the chicken salad. We had a safe place undercover for our bikes too.

Not much, though an observation is that over a busier period it could be a bit noisy because of the wooden decking in front of all the barrel units.

Bedroom in a barrel! Brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Lovely attached lounge leading into a well outfitted and spacious bathroom. Breakfast was great and should meet with most people's requirements in terms of variety.

However, no parking at otherwise splendid hotel. Unless you are very lucky and find parking in immediate vicinity, long term available parking some way away.

helpful friendly staff, excellent meals, ,well appointed comfortable room great views along canal. Highly recommended.

A bit expensive. The location needs an hour of train ride and more than an hour of boat ride to reach from Amsterdam. There's not much to do in Stavoren unless you are a boat or sail boat enthusiasts.

My wife loved the wine cask/vat rooms. The place is very quiet and romantic and that includes the Stavoren area.

Since the bigger barrels were opened not so long ago, one of them is open for tourists to look into during daytime to generate interest. This can generate quite a bit of noise (especially from german groups), which may compromise your afternoon nap. Hotel should post a sign stating that the hotel rooms may be occupied and that people should remain quiet when checking the room.

The big barrels are more luxury and a lot more space than we thought (there is a separate living room, a big bathroom with both big bathtub and shower, and the sleeping room is in the barrel itself) very close to the harbour and a nice base for walks or cycling.

It was my fault. Don't book the wine cask rooms if you are with someone who snores. You don't know what torture is until you're in a barrel with a snorer.

    Great location. Friendly staff.

Nothing, great place. Just a little less money for the night would be great!

Great staff, helped set up a new room at 10pm when I did not like my first!
