Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We liked everything, except maybe the outdoor metal stairs up to the second floor in the rain, but thankfully Sophie easily carried luggage up those stairs for us. She's so strong!
The location was just perfect, easy to walk around Alkmaar Centrum and explore, find good places to have coffee and food. Sophie, one of the owners, was simply the nicest person, chatting with us, assisting with luggage, giving us a map and pointing out where we should go. The beds were so comfortable, and the very large dining table was perfect for spreading out computers and food/drink. I'm a little sad we only got to spend one night there (emergency booking because of an error I'd made in Airbnb reservations), but I would most certainly return for a longer period of time on my next trip.

Spent 5 nights here with a group of friends in different apartments. The locations perfect, apartments were clean and really well equipped. Sophie made us feel very welcome during our stay aswell. We will definitely be visiting again!

The views were all interior which was a bit of a bummer, but they still brought in lots of light. The twin beds were a little too soft for us and the sea gulls were very noisy - not allowing us to keep the windows open when we needed to sleep.
First of all, the communication with Sophie was top-notch! She was very attentive and accommodating to our special requests including a slightly earlier check-in, bike storage and a place to leave our things after check-out. She met us upon arrival and gave us many helpful tips. Our stay in Alkmaar and bike rides in the surrounding area were easily one of the top highlights of our trip. The apartment was very large, clean & comfortable for our group of 4. We loved the huge dining table, TV area, large windows and especially the roof-top deck. The kitchen was well-stocked. There are many great restaurants and a great bakery (Bakkerij Beerse) within walking distance. There is also a large grocery store just around the corner and the cheese market is a 5 minute walk. It was also great to have 2 separated bedrooms and bathrooms.

The apartment was on the second floor with no elevators.

The fact that I had to leave after one week. I felt almost at home there after my stay.
The location is great. The staff are very friendly and thoughtful. They run the hotel with so much passion, and they will do almost anything to make sure the guest(s) have a great stay.

The location was just fantastic, a parking space two minutes walk away and right in the centre. The apartment was super clean, modern, had all the facilities needed and a little outdoor seating space as well. Perfect stay and the hosts were brilliant, met us and guided us to the car park space.

We had not a problem with this, but if you are disabled, you need to ask if there are any apartments at ground level.
Right in the heart of Alkmaar, this place is a hidden gem, and not too far from Amsterdam. Wonderful hosts, really helpful for anything you may need. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. Stay a Friday to enjoy the traditional cheese market and atmosphere. We also rented bikes to go to the seaside and stopped to admire the tulip fields. Impressive maize of bike paths in the region. Very nice bakery, restaurants and shops around the apartment. I could spend a week here.

Nothing to dislike
Upon arrival we were met by Sophie who was extremely friendly and helpful,the property was extremely spacious and very clean the kitchen area was equipped with hob oven fridge and dishwasher the lounge area was very comfortable with a dining table for six people, comfortable beds and nice bathroom.Located five mins from Old Town area with bars and restaurants plentiful, 2 mins to local supermarket and main shopping street. Property as described on booking. com recommended
