Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandReception hours were quite short but understandable as it's small hotel. When we checked in, we asked our bags to be moved once our room was ready but door was left open and unlocked to our room. Thought little of it but the next day, room was cleaned and again, door was left open and unlocked which caused some concern as our personal items were in the room
Easy location to move around from. Short walk from train station. Good restaurants easily accessible and quiet street. We showed up before our check in and recpetion was able to hold luggage until our check in

AustraliaThe stairs were really steep with larger luggage however the staff managed all luggage for us. Coffee and tea (or at least hot water) should be available before 9am and after 6pm .
Excellent location with canal view. Small but functional room with good shower. Room suited us as we were out exploring almost every day. A beautiful old canal house.

United KingdomIncredible to be able to stay in a 16th century house on the Herengracht in a lovely part of Amsterdam. We were lucky to get the ground floor room with a wonderful view directly onto the canal, v confortable bed, friendly reception.

GreeceOne small thing that we were unhappy about was the heating. Even though the room was not cold, during the night or even before that the radiator switched from on to off and then to off later in the night. That resulted in a comfortable temp before the evening but after 9 pm was a little chilly inside.
The room was clean and the stuff were super friendly. Also the location is very good and near the center.

IrelandYou need to be extremely fit and mobile to get to your bedroom. I was in a room at the top floor and the tiny steps spiraling upwards made it more difficult than a mountain climb. No breakfast available was disappointing. Probably more of a hostel feel than a hotel.
Location was the best part. I had a nice room on the 4th floor, overlooking the canal. Nice feel to the hotel and check-in staff were friendly, although not always present.

United StatesThe rooms are small which is to be expected of the area. But a poor use of space. Where there was a clothing rack, there could have been a closet. No dresser. Where I put my suitcase on the floor, there could have been a dresser. Poor lighting, hard to see your belongings as your digging through your suitcase on the floor. But they have a 3 legged lamp taking up lots of valuable floor space, that doesn’t even offer a good amount of light. I’m also not a fan of showers with no door that get the whole bathroom floor wet.
Great location, great view, nice staff.

United StatesDue to it's age there was no elevator and the steps were very, very steep and curved and we were on the top floor. I compared it to being in a tree house and the bathroom size like being in a boat. I was not prepared for this but in looking back the information was on the booking confirmation that I printed. I did not look carefully and I presume that information was online and I didn't see it. Fortunately we were able to manage but you thought twice about going in and out. There was no restaurant but there were places to eat nearby and they provided that information in a folder in your room.
This was an experience, not a usual hotel stay. This is a 400 year old building and therefore unique. It was charming and within walking distance to everything and right on the canal. The gentlemen who work there are extremely pleasant and helpful and ready with an umbrella! Coffee, water and juice were available.

AustraliaThe young guy on reception...so sorry i cant remember his name...was just amazing. So polite, courteous and so helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Stairs were a nightmare....my husband is 70 and we both had trouble using the staris. And we were on the top floor. Unable to move rooms. No tea making facilities in the room..😩. Room was very small. pillows were awful. Flat!!

FinlandThe room is comfy and very well equipped. The location is even better! It locates right by the canal and not exactly on the touristy spot of Amsterdam which means it is not too loud and calmer for us. The staff is really nice and sweet, it was a joyful check in experience for us. Note that the stairs are indeed steep just like the other reviews mentioned but the staff is going to help you if you need help with your luggage. We were on the top floor and we traveled with small backpacks so the flight up and down the staircase was not a problem for us at all.

SerbiaThe room was on the ground floor right on the street so it wasn't convenient to keep the windows open during the night so it was a bit hot. There are some kind of air conditioners (more like ventilators) but they can't do much. Otherwise, everything else was okay.
