Only a customer who has booked through Booking.com and stayed at the property in question can write a review. This lets us know that our reviews come from real guests, like you. Who better to tell others about the free breakfast, friendly staff, or quiet room than someone who’s stayed at the property before?
We want you to share your story, both the good and the bad. All we ask is that you follow a few simple guidelines.
We believe review contributions and property responses will highlight a wide range of opinion and experiences, which are critical in helping guests make well-informed decisions about where to stay.
Contributions to Booking.com are a reflection of the dedication of our guests and properties, and are treated with the utmost respect.
Whether negative or positive, we'll post every comment in full, as quickly as possible, after being moderated to comply with Booking.com guidelines. We'll also provide transparency over the status of submitted content.
Once a review has been submitted, you can modify it by contacting Booking.com customer service.
We will use the same guidelines and standards for all user-generated content as well as the property replies to that content.
We will allow the contributions to speak for themselves, and we won’t be the judge of reality. Booking.com’s role is that of a distributor of feedback from both guest and property.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc...).

NorwayThe price for a room for one person was a RIP off!
I had a double room for one person. €85 per night. When I arrived, there were NO towels. The shower was terrible! Especially in winter, when you want to have continuous shower. Now where to put clothes! The floor was extremely cold Location was greatZ More what I DIsliked! Perhaps, if one pays €27 per night, with the mimd set thst it is nothing but a HOSTEL, the place is satisfactory. But when you pay €85, you expect some amenities.

United KingdomJust a couple of small comments. Shower rooms did not have a dry space, so hard to avoid clothes getting a bit wet. Some pillows contained feathers, so be aware if you are allergic/sensitive. And my 6-bed dorm contained only one small table and one chair, so hard to find anywhere to put anything down (not even a small shelf by each bed).
Very friendly hostel with pleasant bar / lounge/ common room area and nice garden. Excellent central location. Toilets and showers were adequate. Wash room clean and spacious. My dorm bed was very comfortable, though I did get disturbed by noise from the street a couple of times during the night (but what can you expect in a central location).

United KingdomOur room felt slightly cramped by the huge roof timbers. I managed to beng my head more than once. And like many Dutch hotels and hostels, the stairs are narrow and steep. Both of these are minor quibbles.
Strowis Hostel is on a quiet side street off Voorstraat, which has a good choice of restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. It has a homely feel (I believe it may have once been a family house), a nice garden, and wonderfully friendly staff. The common areas are cosy and pleasant. We felt that we got good value for money.

United KingdomInside the room would be nice the addition of any kind of storage for your clothes, we found just two angers. And just a suggestion, a member of the evening staff was folding the bed sheets in the middle of the communal area, over a table with all the guest around, I think would be better doing this operation in a more appropriate place. Anyway we loved our weekend at the Strowis, these are just constructive criticism 🙂

ItalyOur personal experience: I must say that we had a big issue concerning the heating: the room was unbelievably hot. The radiator was on and even if we had the window opened (it was snowing outside) we didn't manage to cool down the room because we could not turn the heating off. As a consequence, we could not sleep well (also because of the noise of shutting doors of the other guests in the middle of the night - but it's a hostel so I guess you have to know already that it can be noisy). Apparently the heating was on because the roof in the attic was made by wood, it was moulding and the hot temperature is supposed to fix that, but I cannot see how guests can sleep in that tropical room. Plus, when we entered the room, there were two other radiators in the middle of the room and we had to move them because we couldn't even walk(see picture). There was a sign on the door saying that they were working in some rooms, but I'd suggest either to stop renting those rooms or to lower the price and send a message to the guests before they arrive, so it won't be a surprise. The breakfast was ok. Not good for 6.5 euros (which is quite expensive), but we had it for free, so can't complain.
I loved the location and the lowest price in Utrecht for a double bedroom with shared bathroom. The staff tried to help us concerning the heating, did not manage but gave us the breakfast for free because of that :) which is very nice and appreciated. Despite the problem we had, I'D SUGGEST THIS PLACE for one or two nights because being Utrecht it's cheap and the location is perfect!

SpainIf I have to be brutally honest the showers could be improved I am definitely not a fan of button showers. But as I said the rest compensates for that.
This hostel is pretty awesome. I have always felt like facilities are not what makes a good hostel rather than the whole "traveler", open minded, nice atmosphere. This place is perfect for that, you might not be in the most modern building in town but you have a nice place to enjoy the company of people from multiple countries, have a nice vegan dinner on sundays and listen to occasional live music. The staff is a 1 million out of 10. I always prefer this kind of hostels rather than big chains where everybody comes and goes and nobody talks to anyone.
