Asked reception twice for milk sachets for coffee and got attitude but no milk. The couple in the next room returned to their room at 4am and had a screaming match until I got up and banged on their door. It was so loud it was as if they were in my room.

Fantastic location in the museum district but in a quiet side street.

When I got there, the main road beside it was being repaired. But it’s not the hotel’s fault. The rooms have terrible soundproofing. I can literally hear the guys next door talking or coughing.

It is near to the museums and it’s located just outside of the much busier and touristy areas of Amsterdam. It is a few minutes walk to a big supermarket and tram/bus stops. Going to central Amsterdam is just a few minutes walk (or cycle). The room was clean (and being cleaned everyday) and I don’t have any problem with its size since I tend to travel lightly. Maps and guides are available in the lobby. Reception kept on reminding me to use the lift at my own risk especially from 2100-0800...the lift is old and there might have been some episodes wherein guests got stuck inside. There’s a mailbox at the corner to the left of the hotel if you plan on sending postcards.

Very basic accommodation with a high price tag.The rooms are extremely small. I stayed 3 nights but any longer would have been undesirable. Was shocked that breakfast was not included. Be careful when booking through booking.com. If booked directly with hotel you get a discount and breakfast is included.

The room was very small and there was no air-conditioning, which meant it got very stuffy very quickly. When you opened the window, there was a lot of noise from the main road in front of it. The bed was narrower than the mattress (which was very soft), which meant that the mattress had a tendency to slide downwards, which made sleeping somewhat precarious. Breakfast was disappointing and not great value for €10.

Staff was friendly and helpful. The location is very good if you want to visit the museums. Connections to public transport are really good too.

It is not clean. it is old, beds are really old and not comfortable. A full rennovation is strongly required. Morever, the smell in the rooms, OMG! And it is not worth the price, not at all! 90 euros per person per night???? AWFUL, A ROBBER!

staff is very helpful, but the whole structure is old, and really, REALLY DIRTY!

Nothing. Maybe update you photos of the bedroom. They look better in real life than on the photos.

From the minute I stepped into Hotel Sander I was a pleasent experience. Tatiana who greeted us got us upto speed with what's in the area. Walter who was in during checkout gave us a great insight to Italy and the industry. A quad room we booked was spacious, beds comfortable and bathroom functional. It's located in the Museum area of Amsterdam thus is a 5 minute walk to the Ann Frank House and the museum.

Only downside is that we paid the trip in advance however on departure we were advised that we had been undercharged by €20. Disappointing as we paid in advance and in good faith that what we were being charged was the total.

Pleasant rooms, nice location. Short walk to Leidseplein and quick journey by taxi from Schipol.

Small room, small bed, poor wifi
    • Leisure trip
    • Solo traveller

The room was very small, and the bed was even smaller. Odd in Netherlands, the only country where at 6ft, I am not a particularly tall person. The Wifi was terrible - constantly falling over, and apparently sharing duty between an inadequate box in the roof and an inadequate one on the ground floor. To do crucial bookings like hotel rooms and flights, I had to go to the lobby to make sure the connection stayed up. The response from management was to check a mobile phone and say "It seems to be working OK." No, it isn't, because it is not your mobile phone I am trying to use. Similarly, I had a key that required considerable heft to turn properly, and the management response was that I needed to use more strength. Hmmm, how about actually noting that there's a problem? The price seemed very high compared to other similar cities in the area (especially when the room was not good), though perhaps that is just Amsterdam. The location is outside the central ring of canals, and too far to want to walk it really - I had a bicycle. The tram does go from straight outside the door, and the airport bus does too, which is a bonus. Unfortunately while I was there, they ripped up the road ...

The hotel is on the bus route from the airport. It's convenient to the opera and museums. Good choice if you are just flying in for an opera. I wasn't.

You can hear EVERYTHING through the walls. I could hear the people in the next room coughing and having regular conversation.

The property is a few minutes walk from all the major museums which is perfect. A two minute walk to the bus station that takes you directly to and from the airport. The breakfast (extra €7.50 daily) is bread, croissants, hams, cheese and boiled eggs. There is also cereal and fruit juices. The rooms are clean and the beds comfy. Quiet and safe neighbourhood.

A puddle in the bathroom made use of the lavatory and the washbasin very npleasant. When I complained on the first day, the nice receptionist promised to alleviate the problem with towels on the floor. When I came back late that night, nothing had been done. The hotel has a shabby and not very clean carpet on the steep staircase to the rooms. The room was reminiscent of the Inturist hotels of Eastern Europe pre-2001.

My complaint about the puddle was dealt with (although not very generously). It was accompanied by a statement by the new owners that the hotel will undergo major improvements this year.
