How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We had dinner served at their restaurant one of the night - 1. The information leaflet and the reception staff stated that the dinner is served from 6pm onwards but actually it was 7pm. 2. The food was cold. from chicken to pitta to chips. not a single item was even warm which made the dinner not so pleasant.
Room was quite clean, spacious considering this was in a hostel and had a very nice river view (very pretty at night)

It’s walkable from the city centre, nice location. Staff is friendly. We had a comfort room, it was a basic room but we didn’t really needed more

A little bit out of the center. Personally I like it when there are curtains on the bed in the dorm room.
I stayed in StayOkay in Amsterdam, and thought it was really good, so I knew what to expect Rooms are regular- a bit basic, but fine. However the common areas are the best- lots of places with nice couches to hang out, good bar and a really nice terrace on the river. The staff were quite nice and friendly, and it was really quiet.

The coins system. You need to pay to have coin to command drink and food.
The location is very good. That night there was a salsa event at the bar.

I didn't like that there weren't common bathrooms/common showers, and you could only use the one in the room. When you are in a room with 5 other strangers all having to shower in the morning and there is only one shower available it can become a problem 😅
The building and the rooms were very tidy and clean.

The room was not always properly vacuumed and it would have been nice to have cloth washing services.
The room was nice and big. The hotel stuff was very helpful and informed. I also enjoyed the terrace and bar and the food at night was really good.

Staff pretty non-reactive and not very friendly, we ordered a coffee at the bar and were welcomed after 5mn by a « what do you want ». We also waited for 30mn at the front desk while there was only 2 customers and 3 staff members… before giving up.

Youth hostel feel even for the double room. Might be noisy in the summer when people are on the deck just below the rooms. Bathroom ventilation is loud. Breakfast could be better.
Good location, close to the city centre and nice view on the river. Friendly staff.

The water was lukewarm so we could not shower, but this was due to a fault, and once we mentioned the problem, which could not be fixed we were compensated with a free breakfast. Otherwise there was nothing to not like.
Room is very clean and new. Bedding is lovely good quality clean sheets. Lounge and bar area is welcoming with a beautiful view over the river, and buzzing with activity. Staff are always extremely friendly and helpful.

Not much really, no facilities for tea/coffee in room.
Very impressed with hostel , staff were very happy to help with anything , polite, informative and friendly. Room was excellent, clean tidy and comfortable, view was amazing.

The breakfast lacked some fruit and egg options. The beds weren't really comfortable but ok for hostel's bunk beds. The shower was a little clogged.
The location was good, walking distance from the center and close to a parking lot.

The rooms were nice and clean, and everything which was promised was also given. The Staff were all friendly and helped me out when I had a Question. Finally, the Hostel itself looks very nice with a lot of seating options and cozy atmosphere.

There is an odour to the corridor and a little bit to the room.
