Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

United StatesThe bed was a bit uncomfortable. The one bathroom was newly remodeled and high end (great!), but shared among multiple rooms and occupied for 15-30 min intervals at random times of need.
Great location. Friendly and helpful management. Room was pleasantly furnished, located at the back overlooking lush garden area, which offered strong shielding of street noise. The room offered all of the basic needs. Wifi worked well.

Host went out of his way, and was willing to meet me after midnight because my train arrival was delayed. He also helped me with my heavy bag up the stairs - which was much appreciated after 16 hours of traveling on trains and planes and still more trains! I booked a budget room but was given a much larger room because that reservation did not show up. The place is very charming, and the upstairs converted attic room was very spacious.

GermanyNo breakfast, older room, does not feel very clean overall. The room is above a restaurant, one corner of the room smelled like kitchen/frying oil. Curtains felt old, and note: the garden is a back terrace of a restaurant, so not very quiet.

United StatesAccess is locked throughout the day, leaving limited ability to check in/out and store my luggage at the time of my choosing. I nervously messaged the host, thankfully not standing outside for long, but still had to carry extra bags around the city all day (both days). I personally didn't realize from the description that there was indeed a shared bathroom outside of my room, which is not idea for a woman alone. Room itself was too dark to read a book in the evening.

I arrived extremely late, due to a late arrival of my flight at Schipol. It was almost midnight when I arrived. The owner of Zala's was extremely friendly and not angry at all at my late arrival. Very friendly reception. The room was very large with a nicely equiped bathroom just outside the door. The rooms gave onto the back garden and was very quiet while being centrally located.
