The room was unbearably hot and, as the windows didn't open very far, it was almost impossible to sleep.

Simple, clean. A bare-bones place to sleep for the night and take a shower. Just what I needed.

No problems with the hotel as such. As there is no staff at the hotel after 8pm It's up to the individuals to sort out any conflicts. When we were there the usual boring Norwegian male drinking culture (the voices get deeper to compensate for their lack of balls and lack of confidence without alcohol ) was in full effect... so if you like to hear avantgarde renditions of Amazing Grace, and 1990s boomboxes blasting out at 5am this might be the ideal location. I was with my mother and sister and I know they were scared in their rooms.. jamming the doors with chairs...

Great staff and for the price you can't really argue. nice location too.

Budget Hotel Kristiansand is located inside a parking lot near the edge of centre and just a couple of hundred metres from the train station and shopping street. During the off-peak months, keys and entry instructions are collected from the neighbouring Shell service station and the bill settled then. The hotel comes across as an oversized portacabin but that doesn't diminish what is paid for - a simple furnished room with a private bathroom. Heating was excellent and while being close to a busy road, outside noise was virtually absent. For a no-nonsense well-priced budget accommodation with private bathroom facilities, this is an option to always consider.

Arrived after 20.00 when the staff had left for the night. Was inititally a bit confused since I didn't know I had to go to the Shell service station to pick up my key. The large sign informing late arrivals of this had apparently not been hung. It was there the following night.

Budget Hotel is a chair, a bed and a shower with free WiFi. Nothing more, nothing less. Perfect for crashing a night or two if you don't really need a large breakfast buffet, sauna, a trouser press and lots of other stuff.

The accommodation is very simple, but perfectly clean and practical. You cannot expect much comfort and luxury. The surrounding of the hotel is not very romantic. It is next to the Shell petrol station, near the motorway. On the other hand, a beautiful nature park is not far, about 10 min walk.

The accommodation is perfectly located. It is very easily accessible from the airport by bus. Bus no. 35/36 goes regularly to the main bus terminal, which is approx. 5 min walk from the hotel. The price of a single ticket from the airport is 43 NOK (September 2017). The centre of the city (the main square) is about 10 walk from the hotel. The ferry terminal is about 15 min walk.

Excellent place to sleep and travel on from. Just nothing else.
    • Leisure trip

The best word to describe the hotel is, perhaps, spartan: you make your own bed, there is no breakfast, staff is only on-site for a few hours in the late afternoon and facilities are practically non-existent. The showers look like the cheapest option available at the local DIY store, most of the furniture seems to be IKEA budget deals and even the building looks constructed from spare parts.

Location is excellent for those travelling onwards by ferry: you can literally see the ramp to the ferry from the hotel. There is also ample parking space nearby, on account of the hotel being situated inside a parking lot. While the view is not much, you are actually very close to downtown Kristiansand, handy for shops (there is a supermarket across the street) and exploring the town. If all you need is a good place to sleep and continue your journey from, the hotel is a great choice.

Parking payment was VERY complicated and VERY expensive. The kind man at reception helped us to understand how to pay, but we had to overpay to make sure we didn't get a fine and were told the excess would be refunded to our credit card if we put it back in when we left - this didn't happen, but we had to pay 20p! We were happy with everything, though be prepared for very basic, simple rooms.

As the name implies, the cost was much less than most Norwegian hotels, with en suite bathrooms. Linens were included in the price, but guests make their own beds, which are bunks. The manager was friendly and very helpful, sharing how and where to park for free after 5:00 p.m. He also took the time to show us a map and explain good places to eat and enjoy a beer. (Great local brewery nearby!) Location of this hotel is excellent.

We booked a room for three adults, but the rooms are small even for two. Therefore, for three, it is absolutely impossible. Moreover, the third bed was a small folding "deck chair", with a thin foam mattress. As we complained, finally we had another room, but the initial price for the three of us, that was one of the reasons to book this hotel, was finally much higher.

It is a cheap hotel (for Norway!). The boy at the reception desk is kind and tries to help. The hotel invited us for a nice breakfast in a nearby restaurant. The "real" beds were confortable.

You must have the window open since the rooms are small and there is no air condition or even a fan. Very close to Kvadraturen- the heart of Kristiansand. Easy to get there by car, boat and train. Easy to park the car. Central location and the price makes it a good choice if you only need a bed and private bathroom and you like to get up early in the morning.

First impression was "creepy", but it's not really that bad. You have to move your car to park on a local street to avoid overnight charges. Prob is that there is really no reason to visit Kristiansand except to break up a long drive from Oslo to Stavanger. I would recommend a different route for that drive if possible.

The desk person will help you find free overnight parking, otherwise be prepared to pay an hourly rate for the on-site premises.

The facilities of the communal areas are shabby and mostly out of order. E.g. there is a so-called kitchen with a (dirty) stove which cannot be used because the electrical plug has been removed a long time ago as the unhelpful staff members tell the guests when they complain about it. The place is very noisy (no insulation between rooms/cells). The bathrooms are very moist in spite of a loud (completely inefficient) ventilation system. Kristiansand is expensive, especially during summer. Nevertheless, for a few NKR more you will find better value for money.

The location is very convenient, next to the motorway/ferries/train station and to the city centre at the same time. The rooms are equipped with just the most basic necessities. But they are kept clean.

Noise from road and ferry traffic is your cost of very central location. No breakfast, but we knew this when we booked.
