Great garden, fjord view, breakfast, restaurant, heritage.

Suite without anything extra. No hairdryer. Payed extra for a toothbrush. Outdated bathroom with dirt & black mold. Maintenance needed.

Best breakfast I ever had at a hotel. Superb staff

We happened to visit during a heat wave, so the absence of AC was a bit frustrating.

Beauriful hotel & Staff was very nice, and the property was pet friendly. Large fenced in yard and easy walk to the fjord. The lab was absolutely delicious. The room was lovely with heated bathroom floor. I especially loved the dog bed, dog bowls and even dog treats with note in the room, very welcoming.

The set meal looked very lovely, but quite pricey. Even when I purchased a portion of the meal, I could not believe how expensive it was, especially the desert which was small and overpriced. The bedroom was a little dark, but doable and the shower required a little effort to get out of due to the shower doors, but it was a minor inconvenience.

    Property response:

We really appreciate hearing from you, both your kind words about the place and comments where there is potential for improvement. A truly beautiful building, but not a great hotel. Some very helpful staff members but also some incompetent ones.

I paid for an upgrade to a Seaview Room, this room had no effective Blockout for the midnight sun and was incredibly stuffy when we first entered it. After we wedged the doors open (see photo) for a few hours it had cooled down to almost a tolerable temperature (which is pretty high for Australians). The hotel has no air-conditioning in its rooms. It is such a beautiful building. It seems to be focused on events/functions/weddings. The comfort of the rooms does not justify the price tag in any way shape or form. I have been promised a refund for my “upgrade” but that has not yet come through (I will edit my review if it does). The manager agreed to move us back to my original garden facing room, which was much more comfortable though still did not have air-conditioning.

Excellent location, close to the sea and to hiking trips. Beautiful surroundings, and a very well-preserved building. Worth a visit just to look at it and enjoy the garden, but well worth staying at. Very kind and helpful staff.

Not a problem with the hotel per se, but the hiking roads around the area are not all well prepared, and require some dexterity to move about.

Awkwardly placed power points. Turning off the light in the entrance hall turned power off to all points in the room

Extremely accomodating and pleasant staff at the hotel and restaurant. For instance had to call and move our dinner reservation because our drive from Sweden took longer than expected and they moved us even though they were quite busy in the restaurant. The food in the restaurant was really very delicious and the view from the restaurant and also from the pavillion where they serve breakfast was beautiful.

We thought that the hotel would be in a more secluded location, but it's surrounded by other housing complexes and homes on all sides. This was not a problem, it just wasn't quite what we expected. We also had a problem with our booking - we had booked a family room, but for some reason this wasn't showing up correctly in the hotel's system, and they did not have any more family rooms. We received two double rooms instead which was also fine for us in particular as we were only staying for 1 night.

The room, the breakfast (food, choice and room), the location close to the beach, the building is very beautiful.

The art in general is not necessarily joyful.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location, very friendly staff, cosy lounge/bar with free tea and coffee, very good breakfast, 2 minute walk down to the sea. We added another night because it was so nice there.
