How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Verified reviewIf you want to sleep in a museum, this is the place to stay. The personnel was very nice. There was home-made bread at breakfast.
Just keep in mind: you will "enjoy" a shared bathroom, and you better keep your luggage tidy because there will be people visiting - your room as well! We noticed too late the "shared bathroom" feature; this may be acceptable for young people, but for us it was not. The pictures published on the internet are just great; our room was not there! we got a very small room (probably the former servant's room), with none of the nice, attractive items from the images. There is no lock at the door; when you leave your room, the door stays unlocked. Way too expensive.

Verified reviewPerfect. Extremely nice place near the Jake, great food and great hosts. We did half of bessegen climbing up and then took the trail to the hotel from there. This way we do to see great views but also did not walk up the hard part of bessegen in the rain

Verified reviewIt was very interesting to stay in such a historic house. The staff knew a lot about the history of the previous owners, which made it a lot more interesting.
The house is over 100 years old, so it of course has some creaking when stepping on the wooden floor and when opening and closing doors. So it’s important to be mindful with the noise.

Verified reviewIt had a unique character with lots of details everywhere. Extremely beautiful area and nice stories behind the place. Great decorations and views.
It was more expensive than the quality of service and facilities were worth. Rooms didn’t have a key and some rooms were connected to each other. I accidentally opened a door in our room but suddenly entered other people’s room which was very awkward. The shower was not working properly either.

Verified reviewIf you wish to experience beyond what a traditional hotel offers, this is the place for you. After our travel with numerous Hotels, this place stands out, and the reason is not because you have more choices at the breakfast, but you feel you are in a different universe. Like you went back in time and your stay becomes more than just a room. Even though we booked wrongly the hosts arranged everything to meet our needs on the spot.

Verified reviewLoved the location and setting. Loved the fact that we were staying in a museum and all the original artifacts. Totally intriguing.
Our beds were very uncomfortable. My husband slept in William’s bed and it was not made when we arrived. We had a shared bathroom which we did not expect

Verified reviewThis is a museum not a hotel - that said the environment was delightful. It contains original furniture and fittings, and there are shared bathrooms. We stayed in Anna's room and had lovely views of the valley down to the fjord. The breakfast was delicious and there were plenty of areas to sit during the day and evening in the various sitting rooms and outside. There are facilities to prepare a simple cold meal and make tea and coffee. The views from the breakfast room are exceptional and there are numerous pictures, artefacts and books to read about William and Anna Singer and their legacy. The staff were delightful and we really enjoyed our tour of the house and hearing about the couple from our young, enthusiastic guides.
The bed was not the most comfortable (it is all original furniture) and had not been made properly with just one sheet laid across the mattress that didn't fit. The original curtains do not fit the windows so did not keep any light out. It would have been good to have a simple cooker or hob in the outhouse to make warm meals in the evening as there are limited local options for food.

Verified reviewThe location was amazing, the hosts were very nice and helpful, the food was all homemade and excellent
Everyone always prefers a private bathroom but gives the age of the house and all it’s charm I didn’t mind giving up on the private bathroom in exchange for that

Verified reviewIt was the house of Mr Singer, an heir to his American businessman father but who wanted to be a painter. We grew to appreciate the house - it’s warm and full of history! The staff is great too.

Verified reviewWonderful historic stay. Beautiful home. Great location.
You feel obligated to listen to the spiel from the caretaker of the place, and we were tired and not ready for that. Beds are not that comfortable, but a great experience for one night for sure!

Verified reviewA very historical home - maintained with all its original fittings & fixtures
It’s a museum home - we’re not given room keys. While we like the home, it does need a refreshed … some further cleaning.

Nothing that wasn't pre -written. Do wish I had a double bed. Also the lounge/cafe area had some functions missing.
