I don't usually watch tv in hotels, but I was sick and stayed in the room a lot. The TV cable was cut. No entertainment. There were many blankets in bed and they were quite dusty.

No heating. Typical for budget hostels. We were there in Jan. Had to wear a bulk of clothes to stay warm. Shower wasn't always hot. Had to tell the front desk, but they worked the problem each time. It's basic. Note, it is not even close to as comfortable as the photos show it. Still, at that price range accommodations, I would recommend it!

Wonderful rooftop patios. Great for breakfast socializing or hanging out above the streets of Kathmandu. Can walk to Katmandu Durbar Square once you get the routing out using an app like Mapquest or Google maps. Thamel shopping close by and there are many tasty restaurants. The staff was diligent. It felt save. Only one way in past the front desk in a narrow passage. There was always someone there.

Beds quite hard but i believe this is the same around Nepal so preference only. Quite noisy all night with the mopeds

Fantastic atmosphere, staff amazing and helped us to book the mount Everest flight. Breakfast was different and so good each morning with delicious coffee

The beds can be a little bit too hard for some people.

I had an absolute great stay at Shangrila-la. The stuff is super friendly and will always help you with anything. The manager of the hotel can help you with plans or trips around Nepal so you will get amazing expierences. Sometimes it can get a little bit noisy in the night, but the Hotel is placed in a quiet street just next to Thamel. So it could be worse. Overall I had a great time and will gladly come back :)

Rubbish was full. Told the staff to clear off but instead, it was suggested to me that l get it cleared myself by providing me a plastic bag. In the end nothing is done by one of the staff. Nikesh.

I was lucky, both times I stayed in a dorm and had the room to myself. The free breakfast is really nice and I was able to leave my bag there for 3 weeks while I did some hiking. overall it was really nice.

Only problem I saw in the washroom and safety lockers! Locks are broken. Toilet is very small even hard to move, shower place is also very tiny & it’s glass doors are damaged & not closable! No privacy at bathroom. Actually they need some renovations in this two area.

Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Service is still satisfactory than many other hostels of Kathmandu.

Lockers were not working, they let introduce new clients in dorms in the middle of the night.

I had a deluxe room, it’s very small and I didn’t like the matress, too hard for my taste. Also I think it’s a bit overpriced. Other than that I had a nice stay.

Staff are great, very welcoming and friendly. It’s not on the main street so it’s relatively quiet in the night. Location is good, everything you need within a short walking distance.

Perfect location in Thamel but in a quiet street. Every morning different breakfast. Beautiful terrace but the most important the amazing vibe in the hostel. All staff are lovely and the owner Keshab makes sure everyone is welcomed and enjoys themselves. Cannot recommend it enough!

The lockers doesn't work, not hair dryer or any other equipment... it seems it was a great place before covid.

The location was good and the rooms have the basics to sleep. Breakfast was good with many options, but we had to wait more than an hour the day we went early.

The rooms looked much much worse than on the pictures. Room was super cold and there was now hot water! What was even worse the water running from the tap was orange and the toilet had problems to flush. The staff wasn’t very professional and when I complained about it they just smiled and didn’t do anything. I booked for two nights but was leaving after one. They asked for my reason to leave and when a told them about all that again they just offered me an extra blanket! Plus I had to pay for both nights as it was booked through Booking.com and they had no refund cancellation policy.

The only part I enjoyed was the rooftop terrace, it was very nice and quiet. Also the breakfast was good.
