Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. It would have been great to have a choice of pillows - something thinner and softer would have been great.
The property had a rural view on the outskirts of Taupo. This suited me as I was heading north but wasn't near a supermarket or restaurants if you were staying longer. The property is located on a main road which was quite busy during the day, but quiet at night. It was great to have a carport. The bedroom had two single beds - comfortable and with an extra duvet. The owner had turned on the gas heater prior to my arrival, so it was nice and warm. The kitchen was well provisioned including a continental breakfast. There was a lovely hot shower.

Bedroom really needs black-out curtains as the blinds still let in light. Apart from that it's a fantastic place.
Spacious, well equipped unit. Peaceful location and nice view. Didn't see the hosts but they were friendly on phone :-) Would definitely recommend. LOVED THE AMAZING SHOWER PRESSURE!!!!!!

Nothing at all.
Everything was great. Bed was comfy, shower was lovely and great pressure, really well stocked kitchen with food which I wasn't expecting and so clean. Would stay again.

Honestly there's nothing significant to note for dislikes. The only minor mention was that I was surprised to see there wasn't Conditioner provided as a staple amenity (there was Shampoo), however I always travel with my own toiletries so this wasn't a problem for me.
I had a quiet and peaceful stay at Almost Country! I was attending an event at Taupo Motorsport Park, this accomodation was located conveniently between the town centre and the track. After an eventful day it was nice to return and be able to relax in a place that felt so homely. This accomodation is well set up for a longer stay and if I travel to Taupo again in future this will be my first pick.

All good no problems.
Quite large, very neat, tidy and the fit out modern. Quite private layout, not far from town only a 5 minute drive.

The unit had all that was required for a two week stay and more. The kitchen was well-equipped and there were plenty of extra towels and bedding if required. The unit was warm, clean and comfortable and extra heating was available if required. Breakfast was included for the first night but there was more than enough supplied for a week for two. It was private and quiet even being on a main thoroughfare.

Wouldve liked raw sugar for coffee and a small mirror in lounge room as my friend took up the bathroom and bedroom to shower and get dressed....tiny details not really an issue but u asked

Stay not long enough.
Loved this unit. Everything we could require was provided, including kitchen and laundry facilities. Comfy bed, everything clean and welcoming. Location quiet, pleasant, in easy reach of town, and easy to find when we arrived. A very relaxing and comfortable place. Happy to recommend to others and we hope to stay again.
