To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

We were in the block at the back (rooms 1 - 8) An old block that was obviously recently refurbished to a good modern standard. The room was quite small but sufficient for our needs, and the kitchen had all the basics that we needed. The staff were helpful and it is in an excellent location for walking into the centre. Plenty of parking was available

New ZealandFound some nail clippings (yuck!) on the carpet indicating it hadn't been vacuumed properly from a previous visitor. Small bottle of half empty shower gel found in bathroom from a previous visitor also not disposed of!

New ZealandParking is free but sometimes it's hard to find one outside your room (free parking across the road at their other site though which is great). In our room, we could hear the hot water going for other rooms which were quite loud, and the internet speed using apps on TV wasn't the greatest - but we coped. The WiFi in general on phones was great.
Close walking distance to eateries, bars, and a fish and chip store just down the street as is a nice cafe. 10 min walk to Te Papa Museum, 5 min walk to New World. The staff are super friendly. Good sized room and a good bathroom and kitchenette.

We stayed in the older part of this motel, which reminded me of the boutique hotels we have stayed in, in San Francisco and Paris with a nice mix of old and new. A great eclectic look, with antique features mixed with large modern bathroom. Great location, close to restaurants.
