To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

New ZealandNo clear instructions for parking and no drop off facility nearby, had to lug all of our luggage from a nearby parking building which wasn’t easy with young children. Tidy but in need of a deep clean, mold forming on ceiling above shower and dishwasher was disgusting, stunk the entire room out when opened.
Spacious rooms, good facilities suitable for bigger families. Finding a washer/dryer in the room was a welcome bonus.

AustraliaOur flight was Airline cancelled, so our prepaid accommodation check-in was inadvertently a day late. We advised them ahead of time and as per policy, we were not refunded for the first night we were unable to arrive, but the promised upgrade for the only night remaining, our second pre-booked and paid night, was " system cancelled" and we were kept waiting whilst tired just off our flight while poor Aditya corrected this annoying error. He was great and did his utmost in a bad situation but it was exhausting having to explain and finally retrieve texts showing their replies and promised upgrade ( in lieu of refund) to our delayed arrival. Room was not as clean as it should have been, and some items need urgent attention: light fitting above sink is half off, towel warmer in bathroom has gunk/ residue on it (and I cringed placing my towel near it!), redhead dirty, bed base fabric, faux leather crumbling onto floor and bed was lumpy/ uncomfortable, Bathroom vanity top was laminated and badly water damaged, showing through chipboard at base... The safe in wardrobe was in pieces ( keypad ripped off and left inside safe)? Also, one of the chip packets on offer from mini bar was 3 weeks out of date!
Aditya was wonderful with pre arrival information and on our arrival day, when there was a hiccup with our booking having been cancelled although we advised we were arriving a day late due to a flight cancellation by the Airline. Magical night time view of city from all windows, especially picture cutout windows in bedroom and bathroom Top tower room is a fabulous opportunity to impress, and the views certainly do that; but unfortunately the lack of cleanliness and cheap/ dated fittings just detract from the experience. Losing/cancelling our prepaid booking was just unforgivable!

The room was well equiped and great location. The receptionist lacated me on a higher floor, so I wouldn't be disturbed by construction work in the area.

Australiaupon arrival we were informed of a $300 security deposit they wanted us to pay, as they said, it was mentioned in the terms and conditions, but it was the last thing mentioned after clicking through to a separate page - they should make it more obvious and upfront instead of leaving it to the very last thing in the terms - everyone was being caught out by it, not just us - I think it is being deceitful
