Asked for rooms next to each other, they were on a different floor to each other! Asked for an earlier check in, rooms weren't ready an hour early, but they rushed through the clean so we could get in to one a little early. It was however then not clean, with a plaster and hairs on the bathroom floor. Hole in carpet and toilet ran all night and water came up really high (kid didn't want to use the toilet) and ran all night.

Location great, staff were patient. Beds comfortable. Kids needed to eat, so the receptionist got us some cutlery from the restaurant and let us eat in the lobby.

Spacious room, old school ellegance, central location informative staff gave us some good ideas and directions. Well appointed bathroom, again old world but functional.

Bathroom needs a bit of WH&S overhaul. Bath is tricky to enter and leave and slippery. There is a warning on the wall that the floor is slippery when wet - and it is very.

The noisy hotel guests drinking on their balcony, fist fighting and then having the police have to intervene. Apparently this is also a common weekend occurrence. Not the best when participating in a sporting event and needing to be well rested.

I liked the aircon as it helped to block out some noise and kept the room cool to sleep in.

Parking included and 2pm check in is more logical in the 21st century.

We could grumble about its age and a few minor challengers but think positive and enjoy some iconic heritage. Room was clean, high ceilings, felt like stepping back in time and imagine how incredible this would have been 50 years ago. Water hot was a bit iffy and apparently no one was taller than 5 feet for a shower back in the day. The toilet flushing can cause mild panic if it will go down…but hey it did! Quiet location for a central place. Parking extra $20 in a tight squeeze. I would recommend parking just is included and change the 3pm checking in as that is silly. But honestly it was not bad for the price and history.

There are not many hotels under 100$ per night in NZ anymore - therefore ok accom for the price you pay Tired building and interior, rooms and hallways slightly creepy but clean and therefore good enough for one or two nights

On top of paying a premium for the room, I had to pay for parking as well! The room was dated and tired and the water pressure was pathetic.

The staff member we dealt with was very helpful and friendly and the room was clean. I liked the dispensers in the bathroom with shampoo, body wash and body lotion.

The bathroom wasn't great. The shower head was low and the mixer was sensitive (scalding hot or cold and for short people only). The toilet didn't seem to flush very well and the cistern took a long time to refill.

The place is kind of charming. A little dated but also really nice. It's right in the centre of the city so if you want to do anything in town it's a nice and cheap option.
