Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We had a lovely stay at Linton Cottage. Everything needed was provided. Spacious, very comfy beds, quiet location and close to town centre. Steve provided prompt responses to communication.

No mirror in bedroom 😃 we've noticed at other stays, (especially being all women) a mirror in the bedrooms, or at least one bedroom,is appreciated as it accommodates those that need to put makeup on and blow dry hair whilst others are using showers. No Solar security light near gate , path

We stayed during the winter, and the home was wonderfully warm and cozy throughout our visit. The thoughtful layout and inviting atmosphere made it easy to relax after chilly days out. Natural light streamed in during the day, and at night, it was nice and peaceful. The beds were incredibly restful, making it hard to get up in the morning! Every detail felt carefully considered, and the space had a calm, welcoming feel that really stood out.

Couldn’t get hallway heat pump to work.
Very clean and tidy. Comfortable sofa’s and beds. Garage for car was a bonus.

Only one minor thing which didn’t affect our stay at all, but would love if we were able to refill the pepper grinder.
We always love to stay here when we attend Massey, as it’s nice and close. House was lovely! Always love the chocolates on the bed and how clean the house is.

Wifi did not reach front bedrooms but a minor problem in the scheme of things.
4 good-sized bedrooms, large lounge/dining/kitchen area. Beautifully updated and renovated home. Perfect for 4 couples.

Nothing. Property exceeded expectation
Fantastically spotless and clean, lovely presented and comfortable home. The additional touches were lovely. So close to town and parks and a very well fenced, secure home allowed the children to play safely outside. Would totally recommend over a motel anytime! Communication with host was instant and great! Thanks for letting us use Linton Cottage

The whole package was first class. The information folder was very helpful. the amenities were very nice and the whole house was well appointed, could not ask for anything more from guest point of view.

Linton Cottage is a lovely 4 bedroom home. While it is an older character home it has been refurbished to a high standard and I would highly recommend.

The beds were very comfortable - we had great sleeps. Also loved how quiet the place was, we didn't hear any noise from the neighbours or the road. I also liked how well set up the place was - everything we needed in the kitchen was there.
