Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaLocation was great-- about 10min walk from the train station, which was an important thing for us because we had a really early train to Machu Picchu. Nice comfortable stay, nothing to complain about.

South AfricaWe loved most of it! As with most old properties (especially in quaint historic towns) the plumbing is not that great. I'm sure they will maintain leaking pipes every now and then. It didn't really bother us because we knew that most buildings in Ollantaytambo is old.
The location was perfect!! Next to the artisan market with a fantactic view of the ruins. It was peaceful and the breakfast was great! The hosts were super friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us. Definitely stay in Ollantay rather than Aguas Calientes when visiting Machu Picchu. The town is full of character and so many beautiful historical buildings and winding streets.

United StatesJust like other hostels in the area, we had to ask for the host to turn on the hot water before we wanted to shower.
The location? You couldn’t find a better spot. It was across the market plaza from the archeological park. Additionally we had a great view from our room. It was a short walk to great restaurants and cafes. The inside patio was a beautiful place to sit with plants and decorations, some of which are for sale. The family that owns the hostel was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was extra special with local bread, cheese, meat and fresh fruit. We asked for tea and were provided with our own thermos, a variety of tea bags and sugar that we kept on the table outside of our room. Our kids fell in love with Puma, the friendly kitten that lives there.

This hotel is excellent value-for-money. It is right beside the Inca fortress ruins and street market. Breakfast was very good. Only about a 7min walk to the train station. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and informed us just have to walk train square to catch a cab to Cusco (60 sol, or 15 each for 4 people) at the end of our stay. We were happy we stayed at Eureka Lodge.

CanadaThe location is literally steps away from the Inca ruins and only a 10 minute easy walk to the train station. Lots of restaurants and cafes nearby to choose from. The showers had hot water, the wifi was strong, and overall everything was clean. The owners made it an exceptional stay and were very friendly, helpful, and prepared a wonderful breakfast for us.

United StatesOur stay was too short. Really loved it here. The road is rocky and difficult for rolling suitcases.
Amazing staff with the level of personalized service which would make most luxury hotels blush. They personalized every guest's requests from personally delivering beverages to the room promptly to being eager to fulfill every request the guests may have from restaurant recommendations to bringing luggage up to the room. We had the best service experienced ever in Peru at this hotel and was treated exceptionally well at every turn by the amazing and accomodating staff; every request was granted which heightened our experience to the level of almost luxury. The location is also prime, located on a picturesque narrow street with a spring merely steps away from the main ruins and a short walk to the main square. The provided breakfast spread involved mostly organic and locally grown produce and was fresh and made to order. The rooms were clean and bright and themed in accordance with the rich local culture.

United Arab EmiratesAll was good.
The location couldn’t be better, just a step away from the main ruins, which we could see from our window, exactly as per the picture. Super centric and it allows to see the soul of the city. The team was very hands on and supportive throughout, offering advice and tips. The breakfast was more than expected. They organised transport from cusco airport for us at a reasonable cost. We forgot a bracelet and one of the staff came all the way to the train station to give it to us a day after when passing through the station on our way back from Machu Picchu. Wonderful!

Everything. The location and view is incredible. The staff and owner are the most accommodating hosts I’ve ever encountered. It was by far the best breakfast in Peru. They upgraded our room upon arrival allowed us to stay late due to our daughter being sick. It is the most authentic Peruvian hotel experience you will find . They even arranged transportation and laundry for us.
