We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesIt said parking onsite. San Juan is super busy and you can’t park on the streets. Needless to say we paid $ 25 - $30 per day and we stayed 6 days. This should have been communicated. Also the building was under construction, so the dust was heavy and I got really sick. I wanted to have a nice view during my evenings and sit in balcony, but again no view and that was very misleading on the site. I learned my lesson.
I like that everything was near and walking distance. Like, Restaurants, little cafe shops, and other stores.

United StatesToo many stairs for entry.
There was a desk person at all times to help with check in or have questions. We walked from the train station with lots of luggage and saved on an Urber ride.

Hong KongDuring my two-night stay, I encountered a few issues in the apartment. I notified the host, who was kind and responsive, but not everything could be resolved: - **Hot Water**: There was no hot water in the shower throughout my stay. I was informed that they needed to purchase hot water to fill the tank, but it didn’t arrive in time. - **Kitchen Light**: The kitchen light was not functioning. Although they came to investigate, it was not fixed during my stay. - **Cleanliness**: The bedsheets were not clean, and I woke up in the middle of the night with bites on my neck and back. The host did come to change the sheets the following morning. - **Payment Issue**: There was a problem with my credit card payment via Booking.com, and I had to send the payment through Venmo instead. - **Apartment Signage**: There was no sign at the apartment door, which made it difficult to identify the correct unit when I arrived at night.
The location was fantastic, situated in the heart of Old San Juan. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe throughout my stay. Check-in was straightforward, using a padlock to access the keys at the main gate. The apartment is on the first floor, but note that there is no elevator. It features a loft-style layout, with the bedroom located in the loft above (accessible via narrow stairs) and the living room below.

United StatesI know things happen but when I arrived I did not have power in my apartment till midnight. I originally thought this was a hotel not airbnb. Some accessories were nice but thought I had a microwave in the room. I could not find the light switch up in the bedroom. So for that and those small things it would have been nice to have someone around. Last three of four mornings I woke up to very loud cleaning and maintenance workers fixing up the property. I think this could have been done differently. I was told quiet time was from 10pm -8am not what I heard.
It was a great location and things that were in the unit were excellent.

CanadaWe have left your premises! Discusion about your unit: Location of your unit is impeccable! BUT MANY DEFICIENCIES!!! Shower is very dangerous…. Screws sticking out at the drain and guard in the drain NEEDS to be changed. We as renters shouldn’t even have to tell you this. This would never pass inspection!!! Hot water is NOT a common item!!! Stairs for the loft are very dangerous! Would not pass code! Railing is very wobbly! Safety issue!!! And lastly you have no window for emergency escape THAT IS ILLEGAL!!! You have no issue charging like a 4 star plus hotel but you DO NOT OFFER THE QUALITY! Your photos are very well photoshopped but don't show the real property! I would appreciate some kind of reimbursement for your false advertisement!!! We have never had to write a bad review but this one deserves to be acknowledged
Location is great! But it ends there. Still waiting for Pearl to return some answers for us which she indicated we would find out in 48 hours. Poor customer service!!!

United StatesKeep in mind I've stayed in hostels all over the world, I'm a young man who travels alone a lot and rarely complains. They charge you a 100$ cleaning fee whether dirty or not ( it's in small print) I find this to be very dishonest. For 1 night it was 200$ when they post it as 84$. The loft bedroom which if you're not in incredible shape which my friend isn't it's nearly impossible to climb, she has to sleep on the couch. The loft style bedroom includes one of those metal futon style frames that is really stiff and not a real mattress. It was freezing and you can't adjust the air conditioner which Glows brightly all night and it's terribly bright due to a 12" x 12" cut out in the ceiling that isn't a real skylight but makes it hard to sleep. Except for the location, which was great if not driving or off a tourists cruise liner. Book a hotel instead for the same end price and much better accommodations. Pictures tell a different story than what you get.

United StatesThere are three main legal reasons issues on why you should NOT book this place that makes this place a liability for yourself and for Booking.com to host on this platform (I am an easy going person and this is the first bad review I’ve written). After stating the legal reasons I will explain the situation. Host made numerous excuses however this booking location violates a few codes: 1.) breach of contract due to paying for a cleaning fee but apartment was not clean leading to immediate damages (forced to pay for an uber and a new hotel at 1am upon arrival which equates to $250+). I told the booking place I would be arriving at 4pm the day prior which gave them more than enough time to have the room prepared. 2.) implied warranty of hability: due to unclean nature and having a strangers’ feces in the apartment, unclean sheets that another person just slept on, and no new clean sheets were available to replace the dirty ones. 3. Another breach of contract after host did not provide hot water after telling myself and other guests that there will be either hot or warm water. There was NONE no matter how you wiggle the shower knob. Taking a cold shower after coming home wet from the pool or beach is a great way to get sick as we did (more damages) 4. I will also be filing a complaint with DACO if property does not make amends for this terrible stay. We arrived well after the requested check in time (which gave them more than enough time to have the place ready) and the apartment was dirty with feces in the toilet and stains on the unmade bed. It smelled like old dirty laundry in the house. In addition, someone else’s phone was in there?? They never fixed the hot water (same as previous review so this is still an ongoing issue) and the water is not warm or slightly warm. It’s strictly cold—colder than the beach water because it receives no sunlight. We were late to our reservations and plans, lost sleep, and lost money due to this booking’s negligence.

United StatesHot water didn’t really get hot, bed was up ladder my wife slept on couch and did not use shower. All this for $200 night. We could have stayed at hotel for less with elevator Double key deadbolt and only one set of keys is dangerously illegal. Needed keys to exit building, should have electric bolt as in Europe. Very dangerous in case of fire 🔥
Location was good

AustriaThe light in the kitchen wasn't working and I wished someone would have come by to fix it within 24hrs & not days later. Also the list of amenities needs an update. There were a few things listed that were nowhere to be found (e.g. hairdryer). To me these things weren't too big of a deal, I just worked around it. Just something the host can improve to make it perfect for his guests.
The host was very friendly & easy to communicate with! There were issues with my payment & he was very patient and helpful! Location was fantastic!! I felt very safe as a female solo-traveler. The apartment was really cozy! I truly enjoyed my stay.
