Rooms definitely could use some updates. Furniture is old. Chairs/sofa’s materials ragged in areas and lightly stained (likely from years and years of use). It didn’t bother us, however.

Beautiful location next to the beach. Pretty views with crashing waves. Old school elegance. Rooms were fairly basic but no complaints. Breakfast was nice, nothing too fancy. Staff was nice. Bell hop was amazing.

But…We were very upset by the quality of the hotel restaurant, the worst thing was that on our first dinner here, when ordering a children's menu, we got a sharp piece of something in the ice cream. We still remember this as a bad dream; by a lucky chance, I got this fragment, not our child. The manager, of course, responded to our remark (although they did not even excluded the children's menu from the bill), but this should not happen in the restaurant of a five-star hotel. Therefore we do not recommend the hotel restaurant

Great location, nice hotel staff, comfort and cozy hotel. We celebrated the New Year at this hotel, it was nice to wake up in a room overlooking the ocean 🌊😊

Lounge and bar areas - uncomfortable furniture, bad lighting and dreadful music! Luckily the staff made up for it.

Bedroom - fantastic bed, great facilities Staff - kind, friendly and attentive Location - beautiful spot, next to lovely beach. Great base to explore area by bike, foot or public transport.

Breakfast was amazing - cook to order eggs and pancakes. Staff went above and beyond when I sprained my ankle providing a cane and ice.

I have stayed a lot at the hotel during late 90s when I was working in the Lisboa area. When I have ended my working life I have visit the Hotel with my wife during the last 5 years. We have since 5 years apartment in Lagos, Algarve and every time we go up to the Lisboa area we try to stay at the hotel because we like the hotel so much and all that the hotel has to offer. This time we visit Sintra/Cascais and had a short stop on the way home in Lisboa. We always feel that we are welcome back at the hotel.

The hotel is really beautiful and very well decorated. The location is excellent with beautiful view on the sea. Breakfast is excellent with great food selection. The bar serves very good cocktails and drinks The staff is very kind and attentive, they made a very nice surprise for my husband’s birthday. The hotel is very relaxing and has very nice ambiance

The bathroom in our room was old - mouldy cracked tiles. Although it’s advertised as pet friendly, it is not at all, we have a small dog in a carry bag, she was not allowed anywhere but had to pay a €30 per night?

There are two taps on the wall of the bathroom just next to the door that I mistook for decorative towel hooks, this switched off the cold water to the shower and it took me some time to work out what had happened. Luckily my wife was not using it at the time. A note would be handy to warn guests (Room 211)

We have visited Cascais on many occasions but not stayed at the Abatroz, we decided to correct that on this trip. The location and views across the ocean from the dining room are spectacular. If we had one disappointment it was that not all facilities were open, but then it is off season and that was to be somewhat expected, it did not really impact our enjoyment in any way. The room was comfortable and well proportioned, I read that some people have complained about the showers being too small, but TBH that did not bother us, after all it is not a big modern hotel and the water pressure made up for the lack of space in the shower itself. Breakfast was very good, more than enough selection to fill us up for a day exploring Cascais and the surrounding area. I would not hesitate to book again.
