The breakfast was phenomenal, many many options all of the fresh and delicious! The staff was welcoming and the room was very comfortable, the bathroom was very clean and well appointed. The best part was the million dollar (euro) view from our room.

They use very strong smelling product for cleaning the room. Had to air out the room in able to stay there. We got a room with balcony, but balcony has very high walls so we ended up not using it.

Location is great. Breakfast was basic buffet but sufficient.

The weather, but no-one can help that. The newly fitted, very smart, windows leaked. But the wind and rain were exceptionally awful so they'd probably not had been able to test them in such conditions yet.

Breakfast was good, but not much hot food on a very cold and wet day. Lovely old building nicely modernised. Parking very convenient in front of hotel.

There was only a single low wattage desk light (plus a string of LED lights), so it was rather dark at night. Even with that, your room key card had to be inserted for light power - making charging devices while out not possible. That seemed ridiculous given that the refrigerator remained powered and the room light wattage was so small.

This was in a great location and had easy free parking outside. The bed was quite comfortable. Breakfast was adequate.

Because the floor was tiled and it was very cold, it would have been good to have some slippers. (during the colder months).

The location is beautiful, the hotel was very comfortable and the staff was very attentive especially the waiter at dinner time. the room was warm and comforting, with a great bed and pillows.

    Warm-hearted accommodation in a fairy-tale town

Driven by the constraints of a historical building, the rooms are not outstanding in size and the shower cabin partially under the slanted roof was getting tight for me. Unfortunately, during our stay the restaurant due to a technical was closed due to a breakdown in the kitchen – much to their own unhappiness as they had to send their guests elsewhere for lunch or dinner.

Let's start saying that we enjoyed our stay in Marvão and at this hotel so much that we spontaneously extended the time spent there. It surely helped that coming in the low season they upgraded our room and thus we enjoyed even better views than what we had booked. But in general there is a lot to like about El-Rei Dom Manuel. First of all the owners, an extremely friendly and hospitable family who truly do their best to make their guests happy. The panoramic view to the east of the rooms looking above the walls is absolutely fantastic. Getting a view of the castle is also nice and we made many friends envious when sharing some photos of our surroundings. Parking was perfectly easy and the hotel is very easily reachable, which for some other accommodations in town can pose more of a challenge. Inside Marvão you most of the time better walk anyway, as the narrow streets can be difficult to navigate. The extra-large bed truly was so to my delight (I am a broadly built, ~2m guy). As the nights could be quite cool, we appreciated the efficient heating of the room. The included breakfast buffet was nice for the standards of the Iberian peninsula and generously stocked.

A hidden gem in a beautiful mountain village. We booked this last minute as a stopover for one night and regretted not staying longer. A small, cozy, family run hotel. The staff were really helpful and pleasant. The food was delicious and the ambience was very relaxing. You cant go wrong with this lovely hotel.

A slight dampness in our room meant that cushions and clothes in the cupboard were clammy to the touch.

Excellent location. Manuel made us feel right at home and upgraded our rooms after the first night to a balcony room. Breakfast decent but not much variety. A charming family run hotel who will do anything to make your stay more comfortable.

Unavoidable and not the hotel's fault, but because it is inside the historic town the access roads are narrow.

it was a shame that they didn’t have sufficient staff to open the bar for a late afternoon drink.

Central location, very clean. Staff were attentive. Buffet breakfast was typical of Portuguese hotels, sufficient choice to cater for most tastes.
