No double beds but overcome by rearranging the room and pushing them together!

Hotel in an elevated location giving breathtaking views of mountains. We were there during a hail thunderstorm which was quite amazing to view. Lovely food in a restaurant with great views. Stayed an extra night!

The pillows were too high for my taste and the bed was squeaking. All in all, the property is nice, but needs renovation.

Breakfast lacked fresh fruits, but the coffee was very good. The dinner in the restaurant was okay, but nothing special. Rooms are quite big and have a balcony. The view is amazing.

If the walking parties got into breakfast before us, we found that the staff did not refill items.

The high location of this hotel is fabulous with the most amazing view for miles and miles. Our room with balcony, was at the back overlooking the garden and excellent views towards the mountains behind. It is not five star accommodation but quite acceptable for a few nights. We only ate in for breakfast which was good with four hot items and a good choice of cereals, yoghurts, breads, meats, cheeses, and limited fruits. We found local restaurants for dinners, in particular Restaurant Hamburgo which is on your left just as you enter the village of Benafim travelling from Alte. This area is perfect for walking and exploring by car, in particular northwards from the hotel, going up and over the spectacular hills on tiny roads. Alte itself is a lovely village and a nice change to the regular busy coastline.

The access from the car park to the hotel is up a steep set of steps which is unsuitable carrying cases up and then you have to go in a lift to next floor to reception. Also no tea/coffee facilities in room.

The elevators are weird, one from the restaurant and reception and a second a good distance away to the rooms. It is easy to get lost and wander trying to find your way. The restaurant is also ok, not great and the breakfast was the worst selection and food in 14 days of travel.

The hotel is up a steep hill outside Alte proper and appears to be a hotel for tour groups. That's fine unless you are independent and then you become the last priority. The hotel is adequate, beds ok, linens and pillows not very good quality, but clean.

    Many steps to access hotel

The location, the view, the swimming pool but read on. Excellent position, very good restaurant and pleasant staff. Do be aware of many steps to access hotel. Seriously in need of total refurbishment, but quietness, the pool, the restaurant and staff outweigh the obviously dated style. Reccomended with reservations.

No tea making facilities in room. No fridge in room, so we had to fill the bidet with cold water to keep our bottled water cool(ish). Decor and furniture very tired and dated. Breakfast was poor and tables weren't cleared, so we had to sit with other guests debris. 2 large functions were held which impacted residents eating dinner. There didn't seem to be enough staff- receptionist also covering bar and restaurant. Not enough sunshades around the pool. Very poor restaurant service one evening, our food took over an hour to bring out and then one of the dishes was wrong. My husband slipped and fell on tiled floor in corridor as too much water had been used during cleaning. Poor response from staff

Our room overlooked the pretty garden and the views from the pool area and terrace were fabulous. The mixed cataplana was delicious.

Our stay was at the beginning of March and the weather was wet and windy. We got very cold while eating dinner. The heater in our room was efficient, but the bed was on the hard side. Lighting in the bathroom was a bit dim. The bathroom and bedroom decor was dated. There were no refreshment facilities in the room. Service at dinner was very slow, but that may be because it was low season and there was a minimal level of staff.

The views (even through the mist) were great and the staff were very friendly. For bed and breakfast it was very good value.

Rooms needed a makeover. Bathroom taps falling of the wall; broken toilet roll holders and towel rails; little hot water, rusty fittings; stained baths, toilet and very messy sinks. Also the lack of any plug sockets in the rooms not acceptable. Cleaners needed to pay a lot more attention to.....................cleaning and checking for left items. (We found KY Jelly and baby wipes in a bedside table in our before we were moved to another). We were booked and paid for two nights but felt unhappy with the standard of the rooms and left after one night.

Public areas were clean and what little staff we saw were friendly and helpful. We had an evening meal which was reasonably priced and very good.

The WiFi did not work on our visit. The breakfast was limited in choice but there were few in the hotel and the rate we paid we probably could not have expected more.

Staff were really nice and helpful. Our visit was timed to go to the Alte. Carnival, which is excellent so the location was spot on.
