PortugalProblems with my friend's booking on Booking.com that the hotel didn't resolve. No cleaning was done the day before departure, nor was the trash taken out.
The Calema Hotel has been my accommodation in the Algarve for a few years. I always go with friends, but this year we were disappointed. My friend had a problem with her booking on the Booking website, right before her departure date. She tried to resolve it with both Booking and the hotel, but they shifted responsibilities onto each other, and the hotel canceled the reservation. It was very unpleasant; my son was left without a friend to play with, and our vacation was even more miserable.

PortugalThe bed setees were very uncomfortable to sit on and we used the plastic chairs from the balcony, I could not see anyone sleeping on them. Very noisy some nights with lots of banging and scraping of chairs from above and next rooms. There appeared to be no sound proofing. The bar seemed to close at strange times, to the extent we gave up going and just went locally for a drink.
Superb location, room clean and very large with regular cleanings, towel and bed linen changes. Plenty of crockery and pans to cook for yourself and a very good fridge. Lots of hot water day and night, and an efficient air conditioning unit in the main living room. The beds in the 2 rooms were firm but cumfortable.

United KingdomThere is not enough hot water available to have a shower, especially if you want to wash your hair. It's actually unacceptable, so good luck getting 2 people showered before having to wait 15 minutes for it to reheat. The baths are full of paint, which flakes away as water touches it, and they only give you 1 sink plug to discourage you from bathing also. It's really noisy if you are placed on the side of the hotel where the gym and pool table are, until antisocial hours. It's cheap and not particularly cheerful.
The housekeeping team did a great job. The kitchen was sufficiently equipt.

GibraltarThe aparthotel is simple and who can tell is a bit old already, neverthless is still good value for money option in Monte Gordo and would revommend this option. Would suggest to have more comfortable beds and to improve the showers.
Nice cosy hotel with easy walking distance to restaurants, cafe's and the beach. The aparthotel is simple, but has everything to stay a couple of nights or even a week. There s a pool in the premises as well.

United KingdomThe room and furniture were very dated, the kitchen was Ok for producing breakfast but not a lot else. We booked for 4 adults and a teenager. There was no way we could all stay in the rooms provided as very cramped and the sofa beds very uncomfortable, so 2 adults got other accommodation outwith the hotel as there were no other rooms available and as a result we lost money on the stay. We also killed 5 cockroaches during our stay. This was reported to the hotel on day one, but nothing appeared to be done about it. They offered to move us, however, we declined as the room was in the perfect position for us. They also offered to get us a spray which never appeared
The hotel was close to everything and the staff were friendly and spoke great English. The rooms, although very small and outdated, were cleaned to a high standard every day with clean and fresh towels supplied. The bedding was clean and changed regularly. The bar served a small selection of drinks but was competitively priced. The reception was clean and inviting with a large screen TV and comfortable seating.

PortugalTerrible WIFI Exagerated amount of chlorine in the pool. Could not open eyes in water and ended with red eyes. Both my watch and my phone that can go in water (regularly in swimming pools and sea) have broken due to excess chlorine that melted the gaskets.
