Location is a little out of the centre of the resort.

Super-nice staff and a real family-like atmosphere in this little gem atop a steep hill, about 15 minutes walk from Luz beach and centre. Exceptional value rate included a plentiful breakfast , overseen by the owner who captained the breakfast room with humour and warm welcomes for his guests.

Only quibble with the hotel was an outdated plastic shower curtain. Staying in February oranges are in abundance and it would have been nice to have fresh orange juice on offer for breakfast. Also a better quality coffee (e.g. nespresso) would have been appreciated.

What a lovely hotel. Location excellent with wonderful sea views. Excellent restaurant and bar with attentive and friendly staff. Good choice extensive menu for both breakfast and if wished evening meal. Everything provided for a relaxing and very enjoyable holiday.

Personally I would have preferred it to have felt a little more Portuguese.

A very nice hotel in a superb location, with very helpful and friendly staff. This was a one night stay during a motorcycle tour of Spain and Portugal, so we had little chance to explore the area. Personally I found the dinner and breakfast menu a little too 'British'. It's clear this hotel caters for a mainly British clientele, which for some may not be a bad thing. It could so easily have been a hotel in Torquay!

Noise from the lobby bar at night from our room was very loud and although a lot of sunbeds round the pool, people still laying claim to them with towels and going out for part of the day.

Excellent customer service, room very clean and everything you need to hand. Restaurant and pool bar food good quality and buffet breakfast serves a good selection of hot and cold choices. Pool area clean and well maintained with a selection of pool toys for children.

You need to inform the reception 1 hour prior, and they will turn it on but available 24 hours. Brill! Good full english brekkie with cold meats/ cheeses/ pastry and fresh coffee. The games room was a little dated and could do with some things upstairs to entertain the children.

The friendliness of the staff, the bedrooms were always made up and fresh towels given daily if we required them. Breakfast buffet style offering both hot and cold was fabulous. Staff coming round with coffee and offered the children hot chocolate, which they were thrilled with. Talking to other guests, it was nice to hear that several return to this hotel every year!

Location was somewhat rural, car hire/taxis are essential if you want lively nightlife. Other guests were old & didn't always make our young group feel welcome. Apparently going to the same country and hotel every year for 25 years makes you cool!

Warm (not hot) food at breakfast was not replenished during morning and gradually dried up, so was inedible if down late. Limited choice of food - the same every day and the head waiter really needs to cheer up! Gym had limited equipment, but in good condition.

We got a room with a big tree in the front of the window, so there was no sunlight in the apartment (it felt like a basement). It was dirty, especially the bathtub was dirty of an old soap. No WiFi in the rooms is something I can't understand in a "4 star hotel", which is what the place pretends to be. We had an ant colony in the room. We stayed for more than one day, and they left us with a thrash bin full of diapers after "cleaning"- they didn't even bother to empty it. They provided us with a baby chair, it got dirty after a meal, but they gave us exactly the same chair next morning, without cleaning it at all. When I asked the staff to change our room at check-in, they responded only with "that's the room you booked sir". I don't recommend this place to anyone!

Breakfast wasn't bad, but don't expect coffee. They only serve a sweetened beverage with milk from a machine (they call it cappuccino).

Only one tiny little criticism, it would have been nice to have different egg options as breakfast.

The view from our balcony was great and the option if a heated pool. Staff were excellent as was the wonderful coffee served at breakfast. On my husbands birthday we returned to our room to find a bottle of wine waiting! A lovely touch. We were also provided with a takeaway breakfast as our taxi left for The airport before breakfast was served.

No early check in. We arrived 50 mins before the allocated time and still unable to check in however we were given beach towels and welcomed to use the pool and such until check in.

Lovely relaxed hotel, great for families. Lovely setting up on the brow of a hill, rooms overlooking the pool. Breakfast was good and a nice atmosphere in the dining room. We didn't dine on an evening as we like to go out. Hotel very well kept, and very clean.
