Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalIdeally located just inside the town gates, the rooms are simple but well appointed and comfortable, with everything you need. There are common areas like a kitchen and small living room.

PortugalIt was a bit tricky to find but once we got there it was great.
Perfect location in the town, quiet but close to everything. Beautiful house and our room had a wonderful view of the countryside. Simple and efficient check-in. The main tip is to park early once you enter the city and walk the last bit.

United States of AmericaIt's a little challenging to get to the house - the little lanes are so tight you cannot drive there with a normal sized car - but there's parking lots a couple of blocks away so easy to walk the last bit - worth it for the ideal location!
We didn't realize just how exotic the town of Marvao was - a very pretty tiny hill-town perched on the top of a rocky outcropping. And this property is actually a small house that works very well if you end up booking both rooms like we did - one upstairs from the main room, which includes a nice livingroom and full kitchen. Highly recomend if you're a family or even a couple that likes to spread out with a bit of space.

United KingdomIt’s a beautiful house in a stunning location. We settled in and we went out to eat and have an evening stroll through the castle and the village, to enjoy the most amazing of nightfalls. Afterwards the comfort and home feel of the house allowed us a very restful sleep and a very welcome respite from a terribly hot day.

United KingdomNothing could have been better.
We liked that there were separate rooms for parents and children. We enjoyed the small patio area with a landscape view of the town and surrounding area. Our host was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was so good, there was so much; croissants, bread, jam, yoghurt, ham, cheese, cereal, coffee and more.

United KingdomAs you drive through the castle arches take the left fork in the road which will take you to a large square... this is where you need to park.. then walk back up the way you came in... the accommodation is just opposite the tourist information up some stairs... We were driving around all the narrow streets.. before we found it.. as sat nav doesn't really do it...
Beautiful location, and very quaint... Such a lovely place to stay...

PortugalThe location of this house is excellent, close to the city walls so parking outside the walls was easy and convenient. The views from the house are superb. We stayed in the family room, which was comfortably large enough for 4 -5. What made the difference between this being a good stay and an excellent stay was that we had the whole house to ourselves during our visit. Therefore we had sole use of the kitchen facitities, fridge, and outdoor spaces. Check in and out was very straightforward. We would definitley recomment this home and look forward to our next visit.

United States of AmericaA wonderful and enchanting place to stay in the small hilltop village of Marvao! We had the entire house and it was like living in a fairytale. We watched the sunset on one side of the castle and the moonrise from our terrace. Stunning! The full eclipse of the moon was in the early morning so I walked alone through the walled village but the moon had already set and it was just me, a white cat and two birds in the pre dawn stillness.

CanadaThis is a fantastic place to stay in Marvao. The family rooms are very spacious. We could have locked out our part of the property. The views from the patio on the second floor are absolutely amazing! Breakfast was plentiful and really delicious. We think the photos of the Casa don't do justice to the place. It is really very charismatic place. Sparkling clean and we had also entire kitchen to our disposal.

United KingdomInternet was broken.
Beautiful large house with private secure bedrooms and shared entrance, lounge, dining room and large kitchen. We stayed in Quarto Vista Vale with bathroom and amazing view to the east. It is situated next to main car park and city gate therefore you don't have to drive around the steep, windy, narrow streets. Breakfast was good and substantial; fresh bread, croissants, pão de lo, jams, honey, ham, cheese, fresh orange juice, fruit, yoghurt, tea & coffee. Our towels were changed and room tidied during our three night stay. The lady who met us was great, she responded to queries straight away and was always helpful. A great place to explore Marvão, Castelo de Vide and the surrounding countryside.

United States of AmericaSo much! Right at the entrance to Marvao. We had small backpacks as we left our larger cases in the car in the parking lot. My 85 year old mother was able to get to the accommodations. The patio and garden were lovely to relax and the view from the veranda was spectacular. The bedrooms were simply and attractively decorated and good quality bedding. The shower was incredible! Breakfast was more than we could have wished for and the orange juice best in the world! Views directly to the castle steps and entrance. One of our top stays anywhere.
