    Wi-Fi signal is probably poor?

Friendly staff, clean, nice and original decor. Small river old village with excellent road access and views and plenty of parking around. Village is also renown for canoying and was home to most famous Portuguese poet Luis Vaz de Camoes.. Some nice narrow roads to explore in the old village. Nice riverside restaurant with cafe and explanade nearby

Very helpful and friendly staff. Nice breakfast including lovely fresh fruit, we were able to take this early having to catch a flight from Lisbon. The guest house is ideally placed for us as a stop over on route to the airport. Rooms are clutter free, of a nice size and spotlessly clean. The bathroom has a powerful shower, includes free toiletries and also has a hairdryer. The guest house is ideally situated in the town square with bars and restaurants.

Breakfast items can be improved e.g. fresher juice, warmer eggs. The coffee was great though.

Very helpful staff at the reception. Spacious, bright room with a big bathroom. Great place to eat around the corner, Taverna Leopoldina. And I would recommend having a dip in the Zêzere River!

Ah, that coffee machine at breakfast yes... jams a bit. Please get a new one. Excellent coffee though.

Simple, no fuss. Lots of parking space in the back. The staff's incredibly nice. Excellent breakfast. Center of this tiny village, and like 50 metres from the beautiful river. From here you can visit all the region.

Breakfast could be much better, egg & bacon were cold, orange juice not fresh. Staff should have more information about area eg.: events, travel & opening times.

Wifi was great, lovely bathrooms, shampoo & shwer gel could be better; very nice and helpfull staff, good aircon and center location

Despite a massive bathroom, the shower cubicle is so tiny one can hardly move or turn around in it

Must try their freshly baked Portuguese tarts for breakfast. Still hot from the oven, they are as good as you can get. Yep, I am a veteran when it comes to Portuguese tarts, have had the ones Pasteis de Belém many times, and I can tell you Casa Joao Chagas does them just as good

The factory on the opposite did of the river was noisy when the windows were opened. Also there was no lift and so we had to carry our luggages two flight of stairs..

The river nearby was an amazing spot.

The airco and heating of the rooms is with a motor outside. We didn't use it, but our neighbour did day and night. It makes a terrible noice, so we realle needed earplugs to sleep.

We had a large room, very light and a nice and clean bathroom with a good shower. The quality of the hotel is very good for the price you pay.

The fittings etc were all the cheapest possible, but there was generally a nice attention to detail so the end result didn't feel too cheap. However, surprisingly, the toilet seat was broken and the bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned. The breakfast was the usual not too fresh buffet.

Lovely old building. Large comfortable bed. Good shower. Good heating. Helpful staff.

Hotel is not very modern, so do not expect fantastic decorations. Beds were not so comfortable, but OK to sleep couple of nights.

Air conditioning was a bit noisy (but working well enough).

Decent place in old building (modernized inside), with great view on the old square of this atmospheric little town. Parking places were available alongside the road leading to the square (we didn't have issues with finding a free spot). The room was clean and comfortable, with a nice bathroom. Breakfast was also good (with fresh fruits as a nice addition). English speaking staff at the reception. Good value for the money.

Everything excelent! Cleanness, innovation, conditions, accessibility, friendly staff, awesome breakfast. Better than this is hard, price/quality worths the travel or the detour. The decor and the city tourism initiatives are oriented to poetry which combined will make your day!

This place is good quality and very decent. We have stayed twice before and always end up here when visiting the charming village Constancia. Rooms are very clean and airy and the bed is large and very good to sleep in. Breakfast is good with many things to choose from - including eggs and bacon and some lovely fresh fruits.

The breakfast was a little meagre as there were rather more people all trying to eat at once than the space was designed for, and the service was not fast enough to keep up. I think this was just bad luck.

The room was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. There was also a pleasant view. We found our sat nav was not really good enough to find the hotel, so recommend that guests ask for clear directions. The location was beautiful - close to the river.

Shower was a bit dated so cramped to use but clean and hot water plentiful. Breakfast was average. Again no complaints just not a wow.

Comfortable beds, room clean but very basic. Location was great, on a pretty square next to the river. Parking free and plenty of places. Staff were friendly and helpful. Overall good value for the price for a relaxing break.

Our room was in an annex across the road from the main building. The bathroom was in a poor state. Some of the grouting was black and sealant was missing. Mirrors and light fittings were in poor condition. The shower had an old rubber hose and small plastic head (how long had that been in use?). The room was a bit bare, but appeared clean - but we didn't stay to test it out.

We have stayed before and we absolutely enjoyed coming back. Constancia is a wonderful village and Casa Joao Chagas is right in the center. Rooms are very nice and beds very comfortable. Staff polite and welcoming. Breakfast is incredibly good - even freshly squeezed orange juice, eggs and bacon and freshly baked bread. Looking forward to return some time again.
