No coffee/tea facilities in room. Restaurant only provided buffet for dinner- no ala carte. Indoor swimming pool out of action. Due to bad weather outdoor pool wasn’t an option.

Central location to visit Coimbra, the Bussaco forest, Conimbriga ruins, very close to the main highway. Rooms are ok although could have better lighting. Reasonable price for a 4 star hotel.

The hotel staff was extremely helpful. The family room we didn't like on check-in was changed immediately. The fitness center is one of the best we've ever seen in hotels. Thermal spa is worth visiting.

Great breakfast, amazing rooms, too bad the inside pool was cold and turned off, I've even asked for it to be turned on but the staff didn't have a clue about it. Really liked the scenery and overall beauty, the surroundings are amazing and really close by, the Luso water fountain and the bussaco natural park are just delicious for grown ups and small children. really quiet and romantic.

The diningroom colour scheme is very dark, Staff dressed in black, dark walls. A pity as it is a nice room with a good view.

The location is lovely, quiet and very attractive. The staff, without exception, extremely nice, helpful and pleasant. The food very good indeed, the buffet meals especially. Thje choices numerous and all beautifully presented.

It is not the first time we stay at this hotel, but this year we were dissapointed. The quality of the hotel is much worse if compare with the previous years. It is not so clean, especially the swimming pool. The room service was bad: we had to ask for shampoo and bath gel every day. In the breakfas it was always a quew waiting for clean tables and food. The choice of the food for the breakfast was not so good as before. Next time I will not choose this hotel for holidays

There was a leaking at the bathroom toilet that spread through the floor, and it was not mended within two days, even though I communicated to the staff directly. The cafeteria at the hotel doesn't serve cakes nor cookies to accompany the tea or coffee.

The olympic swimming pool with mineral water is excellent. The food at the hotel is quite good, and there are excellent facilities near the hotel too, like the "Lourenços" restaurant nearby and the free mineral water from the source a 100 meters up the street. The rooms were comfortable. The view was beautiful.

We have stayed there before, and will no doubt return, but we have a feeling that both breakfast and the evening buffet were better last year, which is not to say that they were not good.

Attentive and helpful staff. Very good large room with a good view of Luso and the Buçaco forest, where, by the way, you should take long walks, not only to have a look at the palace. The Grande Hotel de Luso has a 50-metre long outdoor pool, with a jumping tower for the brave guests, and there is a shady garden on one side. The indoor pool, which is warmer, measures some 20 metres.

With a broken g.p.s., half of our hotels were hard to find and in a few cases we had to hire taxi drivers to lead us. The Grand Hotel in Luso was better in this regard than most, and the village is small, making it hard to get lost. However, signage elements here, as elsewhere in Portugal are, so to say, "uneven."

We only discovered Luso during this recent trip, our seventh to Portugal. It's an old spa village with a public water supply--sweet spring water--bringing citizens from the area to the spring each evening, to fill water containers. This touch with "ancient traditions" fascinated us, as did a visit to the same public spring the next morning, to see remarkably well behaved Luso pre-schoolers, led by no-fooling-around teachers, line up politely for their water. . . . We enjoyed walking around the village and it would be a great place to settle in for a few months, to quietly write that novel. I have rated the staff very highly since one woman at the desk was 100% Portuguese in her manner and welcoming style. Other staff members were unremarkable but that woman deserves a crown.

The pool, the pool the pool! It was an absolute joy to swim in. The hotel was lovely, the room was huge, the staff were delightful....it was just a great experience altogether. Gripes about the breakfasts are a bit off the mark since the real charm of the hotel is that it ISN'T some bland 4* chain that could be anywhere in the world. This is a lovely individual hotel that serves authentic Portuguese breakfasts. i.e. CAKE and coffee!

Breakfast was mediocre, e.g. orange juice watered down, selection of cereals limited etc.

The rooms are well appointed and large and comfortable, the hotel has been upgraded in the last few years judging from the rooms, even if the colour for the whole hotel scheme is a little 1970's cream and brown! The outdoor pool wasn't ready to swim in until 09.40 when I had to leave although it was supposed to be ready early. The indoor pool is terrific, large enough for lengths.

Rooms and hotel generally perhaps a touch faded, but bathrooms at least on second floor newly renovated. Overall very little not to like. Just think good 3 star rather than 4 and your expectations will be right.

Olympic sized pool with no chlorine taste (probably Luso mineral water). Table tennis tables (but bats rubbish so buy your own cheaply in town). Family rooms are actually two adjoining doubles which is great, and the doubles are two singles pushed together so ok for our 11 and 13 year old of different genders to share.

For me the biggest problem with this hotel is the false advertising it does in putting pictures of the pools and facilities of the adjacent spa as if they were part of the hotel. They are not. The hotel does have an indoor pool but it is terrible. You can use the spa next door but you'll pay the same as everyone else. Also, the hotel rents (I repeat, rents for 5 euros!) the robes you'd use in the room. I thought this was absolutely crazy.

The hotel has been recently renovated and it is very nice. The breakfast room has big windows overlooking the pool which is a nice way to start the day. The beds and rooms are comfortable and clean.

Could improve a little on the infrastructure (more modern) but overall quite nice

Great for families because of inside and outside pools and room games. The set up is nice

The service from staff was generally poor. The rooms are old and poorly maintained. Doesn't match the beautiful exterior. Was so disappointed. Definitely not 5 stars!

Breakfast and the view was the best part.

We loved the luxurious hotel--our room was so spacious as was the lovely bathroom. The olympic size swimming pool is awesome! We could walk everywhere we wanted to go, including the castle.

very poor breakfast quality - a lot of food but all very cheap quality and taste For 4* Hotel a shame . It will be better to offer not 3-4 but 1 choice of cheese ( or ham) , but good quality The same about fruits . No veggies at all... this was disappointed and we bought our food

    WiFi didn't work very well.

Room nice and clean. However could be little bit of more light in the room.
