Booking.com guest review guidelinesTo keep the rating score and review content relevant for your upcoming trip, we archive reviews older than 24 months.
Only a customer who has booked through Booking.com and stayed at the property in question can write a review. This lets us know that our reviews come from real guests, like you. Who better to tell others about the free breakfast, friendly staff, or quiet room than someone who’s stayed at the property before?
We want you to share your story, both the good and the bad. All we ask is that you follow a few simple guidelines.
We believe review contributions and property responses will highlight a wide range of opinion and experiences, which are critical in helping guests make well-informed decisions about where to stay.
Contributions to Booking.com are a reflection of the dedication of our guests and properties, and are treated with the utmost respect.
Whether negative or positive, we'll post every comment in full, as quickly as possible, after being moderated to comply with Booking.com guidelines. We'll also provide transparency over the status of submitted content.
Once a review has been submitted, you can modify it by contacting Booking.com customer service.
We will use the same guidelines and standards for all user-generated content as well as the property replies to that content.
We will allow the contributions to speak for themselves, and we won’t be the judge of reality. Booking.com’s role is that of a distributor of feedback from both guest and property.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc...).

눇The location was perfect for getting away from it all, a real off the beaten track retreat. The bumpy, dusty track to the house is well worth it. The house stands high surrounded by the slopes that are farmed for aromatic herbs and shrubs - lavendar, rock roses, fennel, rosemary, thyme. When we were there in mid May a lot of the herbs and wild flowers were in full bloom. (Make sure you remember your anti-histamines if you get hay fever.) Plenty of uninterrupted tracks for walking, some quite steep so you get a good work out whilst enjoying the views. Great if you're into wildlife photography, plenty of butterflies attracted to the herbs as well as quite a number of birds. You might want to stock up on picnic stuff at the supermarket before heading into the hills, the nearest one is at Mertola (about 12km). Francois made us feel very welcome and at home, taking time to show us the distillation process etc. We are already thinking about our next visit.

눇A truly peaceful place with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. The owner couldn't have been more helpful and made our stay an excellent experience. Don't expect a load of facilities, this isn't a high rise apartment block. But enjoy the breakfast, wander around the paths leading to the river and make sure you take a dip in the swimming pool where you can float amongst hills and sky. If you're the sort of person who doesn't like the adventure of driving down a 4 kilometer dirt road (with wonderful views all round) then Herdade de Vale Covo isn't for you: but if you enjoy wild flowers, birds and complete relaxation in peaceful surroundings then don't miss it!

눇Francois was a fabulous host. He was so calm, helpful, interesting & made our stay wonderful. The setting is so peaceful, tranquil & quiet. We loved it, wish we'd stayed longer & would definitely return! The property is very secluded so a car & arriving in daylight would be recommended. Everything was spotless, refreshing pool & breakfast lovely simple local produce. Francois has done amazing things to his land & is quite an inspiration. We loved the honey from his beehives & essential oils from the plants/trees that he also produces. You can take the long walk down the road (he built!) to the river/water supply & take a swim. This is a simple, calm & understated B&B in the middle of the country.........so yes down dirt tracks with wildlife! This all adds to it's character & charm. Our family thank you Francois & we hope to see you again in the future!

눇The accomodation is an agro tourism place. This means that you have to understand that it is a farm! It is a really great place to stay if you want to be in the nature off of any noise. You accept some kilometers of a dirty and bumpy road to see the stars clear at night.

눇Staying at Herdade De Vale Covo was like to be in paradise in the middle of mountains and picturesque nature. Not only the surroundings and perfect equipment, but also the owners hospitality and cordiality will make your visit a moment to remember. If you don´t want to miss the best of Portugal you should definitely go to this place. It was the best travelling experience for us. We also highly appreciate the local products, that are served to breakfast. In addition guests can also buy home made honey and other local medicinal preparations. We have already tried them and we do recommend them. The owner speaks fluently english, he also gave us an interesting tip, which places are worth to visit and he also provided us interesting information about Portugal.

눇The hotel is situated on a hill with a fantastic view over the nature park, It is absolutely quiet and peaceful. The rooms and the house are tastefully furnished and the pool is beautifully located. From the house you can stroll though the hills and herb fields. In the nearby river you can swim. The owner is very nice and helpful. We learnt a lot about the production and use of essential oils and the life in rural Portugal.
