Food could be better. Nothing much to choose from in breakfast. Restaurant food wasn't great.

The room was clean and neat. Breakfast was nothing special but edible. Whole hotel design reminded of some great hotel in 80s, but now its lost his modernaty. Nice place to stay if you are in Aveiro. Good location and very kind staff.

It is very convenient to all the sights and the staff were helpful and friendly.. The room was large with a balcony and magnificent view but badly in need of a face lift. We found the dining room drab, in an old fashioned way and the food was mediocre. However there are some excellent restaurants nearby to eat at and their meals cost far less than in the hotel dining room.

I liked the large room and the buffet breakfast included in the price. The views from the dining room were wonderful. The hotel was in a good position in a quiet area near the sights. It had a lift which was a big plus for me. The furniture is dated, this didn't worry me as the room was clean.

    • Business trip

    • Stayed 5 nights

Furniture is dated throughout the premises and in the room. Bathroom shower water pressure leaves much to be desired, and it runs lukewarm instead of hot water. Bathtubs with curtains are oldfashioned but also dated. One night I forgot to tuck the shower liner in and the floor was wet as a result (my fault, I know). The breakfast served is continental quality but barely so. Scrambled eggs don't look fresh, poor variety of pastries and breads, fruit juices seem to come from concentrated stock. Coffee is half decent.

Second visit to Hotel Imperial. This time around, I was going to stay a few days in Aveiro (that's where my university is located). The bedroom is spacious, the bed comfortable, the windows open to a nice balcony (which I didn't use) and a great view. The terrace view (6th floor) is gorgeous. The staff is very helpful. They took my large suitcase in storage for 3-4 days even before I checked in. The bathroom is enormous and the fixtures are adequately placed.

One or two of the male reception stall could do with cheering up and perhaps smiling now and again, I am referring to the 2 Frenchmen in particular.

It's in a good spot in centre of town and all in all is very good value for money. It's rather dated and somewhat austere, the fixtures and fittings must have been in place since the days of Salazar I imagine. However,it made it all rather fun, rather like being on the set of a spy thriller set in East Berlin with a bit of Fawlty Towers thrown in.

Hotel is not new and although it is very nice, it's not the same as a recent built hotel. Location is great, near the city center, lots of options around for breakfast and walking distance for the best place to buy "ovos moles", a special suite from Aveiro ("Peixinho" is in the same street). Price is also great (~40€). All hotels in the area that I know are more expensive... unless you share bathroom, room, etc. it is hard to get that price by this time of the year (summer)

No complaints. it is what it is.

I booked this property due to location and price for a 1 night stay enroute Porto to Lisboa. It is a 15 min walk from train station. The location is excellent to all the sights. The hotel is older style, very large seemed to cater for tour groups. The room was big, everything a little dated, and no fridge or coffee. Linen was clean and silky smooth. Towels new and soft. Bathroom big, shower over a bathtub. Beds were firm but comfortable. We had a window that opened with view of street. Check in was very quick, as was checking out. Man at front desk speaks a little English, with not much to say. Breakfast was on 6 floor with pleasant views and a good selection of food. Prices in Aveiro are high so this is an excellent choice for a budget traveller if you want a bed for the night with no frills. The room was quiet and air conditioner worked well. Good for the price we paid, free Wifi.
