Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalParking area was huge but having a garage would be a plus on safety.
I made a special request for the room and asked for a romantic decoration and it was all so cute. The hotel is also very beautiful and the spa was perfect as well.

GermanyIt's weird to have a window on the bathroom and no way to close it. Same for the toilets, there is only a small wall to hie but if someone comes from the side he can see you. The rest was very good and the staff did a good job, they are nice.

United KingdomUnfortunately, we were really looking forwards to using the outdoor pool which looked beautiful but it was shut when we were there (for COVID) although the indoor pool was open. The hotel itself is a bit expensive - we paid over 50 euros for laundry - could not believe how expensive the prices were! We didn't try the breakfast.
The location is close to the main areas of the little town, so you can pop into the square and try the local bakeries for breakfast. The gym was open, it was small, but we enjoyed using it. Our room was spacious and clean. The bartender was really friendly and it was nice that the bar was open a bit later into the evening.

United KingdomSome aspects of the hotel would benefit from refurbishment but nothing spoiled our stay.
We liked being in the beautiful town of Penafiel to visit our relatives. I liked the hotel, pool and staff. It was interesting that different football teams came to stay. Being from the UK it was good that we had parking available too.

PortugalUnfortunately, I had an unpleasant stay at the hotel. Starting, the room, it is absolutely outdated, very dark with old furniture scratched. The wall with paper wall with the image of a labour female on it made me totally uncomfortable. Also some strange smells, like mildew. I asked to change, the staff kindly showed a another room that was terrible like the first. However, smelling better and with a nature painting on the wall. As I was on a work trip, I will appreciate having an iron, but it was denied, and I had to use the laundry service. I had my first-day dinner in the restaurant, I ordered a risotto, that was extremely salted. I thought it was like it was a joke because I had not wanted the bottle of water. My laundry comes back, and to my surprise, the skirt was completely wet. I laughed, as I was tired to complain about everything. After four days, I came across the third Tour group, which have run out the goods for breakfast. Only one attendant, who looked totally lost...
friendly staff

MexicoThe room is very poorly lighted; you move in semidarkness. Only bedside lamps and one light behind a mirror. Wifi is weak and unreliable and you must reconnect every time you need internet. Toilett paper has the lowest quality imaginable.

United KingdomI don't like that there is no in-room coffee making so if you want a coffee in the morning you have to go down to breakfast and that is counted as eating breakfast so the coffee is the most expensive coffee in Portugal at 15 euros if you don't have any breakfast and just a coffee. Makes no sense. Also I find the rooms feel a bit dirty and not fresh. The Bedding is old, and the sheets are covered in pills from wear and use. I tend to sleep under the duvet and on top of the sheets as I am not comfortable getting into the sheets that don't feel clean and there is no mattress cover. So thin sheets on mattress isn't very pleasant. I also think the shower water pressure is very poor, and a hand shower as the main shower is not really that great. For a spa hotel, it feels very three star or worse. You can have only a hand shower, but it should have excellent pressure.
The check in and out process is swift and easy, the staff are friendly and I haven't ever had any major issues while staying at the hotel.

PortugalOur beds' mattresses were way too hard (springs!!). It made it impossible to have a restful sleep. The curtains in our bedroom were _really_ dirty, with something that had dried there. The bathroom door was dirty and crooked from humidity and the toilet frequently left the water running. We found the breakfast options very limiting. There wasn't any smoked salmon, baked beans, potatoes, tomatoes, or hashed browns, for example. Most of the staff on the breakfast area seemed inexperienced and hard to find/reach. They were still eventually helpful, even if not necessarily friendly.
They were able to make it possible for us to charge our electric car over both nights, even if only at 8km/h. The bed sheets and towels were clean and fluffy, and the reception staff was friendly and helpful. The cake options for breakfast were really good.
