The towel policy is too prescriptive they do not make it clear there is a towel exchange and the pool staff were not helpful in this respect. The sun beds are appalling and uncomfortable they really need to replace these with sunbeds that have some good mattresses like other nearby hotels.

The room was spacious and has one of the best views on the island looking out to sea the general areas are looking a little jaded particularly the restaurant the heated pool needs to be warmer it was very uncomfortable to swim in far too cold

The Hotel is located in a Brilliant position but there are 3 areas they need to Improve on 1. They have a towel policy of 1 towel per person for the pool area they do not seem to have a towel exchange policy which means that if you swim you are lying on a damp towel they need to have a towel exchange at the poolside. 2. The Swimming pool has had its temperature reduced no doubt under the excuse of Global Warming unfortunately the temperature was reduced to such a level that made it a real disincentive to swim. 3. The Sun Loungers are very old and uncomfortable they have been there at least 10 years and are badly bleached by the sun we saw on sun lounger collapse when someone went to use it and I have seen this in the past 2 years on 2 occasions. Adjoining Hotels have sunbeds with cushions which are much more comfortable this hotel needs to follow suit.

There is a great construction going on in front of the hotel. This construction site is not romantic at all((( The hotel needs renovation, as it looks a bit old-fashioned. The story with the towels for swimming pool is not very convenient,as you need to remember to take them outside. There is not enough parking places for guests’ cars.

Location is good. Rooms are huge.

    1. Not a family hotel/resort - the games room (pool table, table tennis and table football) closes at 6pm so nothing for the kids (10 and 11yo) to do after dinner. Entertainment aimed at over 50s. 2. €4 for 75cl of water at the dinner table was very expensive. 3. There is a noisy nightclub across the road (music and shouting revellers coming out) which the mountain view room was not soundproof to.

Great location, food, attentiveness of staff and facilities. Our junior suite was an excellent sized room for a family of 4. Both outdoor pools were very good and I soon got used to the salt water. The indoor pools were a good alternative too. Good gym and spa.

A few of the other guests were less than pleasant, but that is hardly the hotel's fault. Though, parking can be quite difficult. However, that seems to be the same most places in Madeira.

Breakfast was delicious, the location is unbeatable and the staff was extremely helpful. There's no denying it was pricy, but it was completely worth it.

I have booked a room with a sea view, but we were actually given a room with half sea and half city view. The view was on the other hotel under construction (Savoy). Too much noise in the room all day and all night long. All our complaints and requests to change the room the hotel staff ignored. It was a big disappointment. In other respects we liked the hotel and our vacation in Madeira

We have NEVER stayed in a 5* suite where you are expected to pay for complimentary milk after 2 days. Whoever decided on this policy? Nothing is guaranteed to irritate me more than trivial rules, I will not stay in this hotel again and possibly not in any other Pestana.
