Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaI would have liked rooms with a view. I booked two rooms and feel we should have had a view. Service from the bar while relaxing on the patio was slow, as was dinner service. They need to hire more staff.
I enjoyed the pool area and the rooms were spacious.

DenmarkThe gym: Rust on the equipment. Functional but not nice to have rust all over your hands/arms, while using it. Also: Good with some air circulation (i.e. fan in the cieling), when you are on the treadmill Pancakes on the breakfast buffet should not be served cold.
Breakfast was really good. Amazing service by all staff, especially in the restaurant. Friendly, kind and with a passion for their job to make the guests feel seen and welcome.

PortugalI wouldn't change a thing about the hotel or the experience. The village of Estoi doesn't have much in the way of cafes or shops though, so definitely come for the pousada
Reception staff were outstanding. Helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond the usual check-in procedure

United KingdomAlthough there is a coffee machine in the room, it's in a cupboard so very hard to fill with water and switch on - we had to remove completely to use it. Just a minor point.
The palace rooms are stunning. All the staff bar one were exceptionally friendly.

Irelandto plug in my lap top, I had to craw underneath the desk to find the plug socket. The best bedrooms are on the higher floors (better view) and I began to wonder if solo travellers were allocated lower floors rooms automatically. Another solo traveller must have researched the hotel better than I and when he was allocated a similar room to me, he asked to be moved to a room with a view (I checked in late and night). I paid the same for my room as any couple paid to share their room but I'm conscious that people might have a bias in favour of couples (people who are in a couple, might think giving a couple a room with a better view, is acceptable). I didn't think to raise this on check out but I booked my room in September. Many others booked in December. Surely the rooms with the better views would be allocated on a first come / first served basis? As a solo traveller, I'm very conscious that there is a strange sense of entitlement benefiting domesticated couples .
The rooms were AMAZING . LARGE , perhaps the largest bedroom I've ever had with giant bathrooms. Even a complementary shoe polishing kit. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I've had in my life - mimosas, fresh cheeses, freshly baked bread and pastry (in a tiny village) The swimming pool with the VIEW was out of this world and I had it all to myself all day on Christmas Day. there is a small heated indoor pool and sauna / Turkish bath. I generally don't fancy those facilities but they were terrific I was able to enjoy the Roman ruins in the near by and the small museum was a thrill. Art Works were along the large corridors. It was more than a hotel - it was a hotel with a connection to local history. Of course the original building and gardens were terrific and it was lovely to stay someplace so fancy. the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Everybody did their best and worked through Christmas without complaint I typically don't go back to the same place twice but if I would ever revisit a hotel, it would be this treasure. The place is actually nicer than the photos presented (many of the guests though the photos didn't do it justice)

United States of AmericaNo coffee maker in the room. Since we are early risers, and the breakfast room doesn't open until 8 am we found it disappointing not having coffee in our room. This property is located in a very tiny country town so there isn't an option to go to a cafe or coffee shop either.
Breakfast is spectacular! We have traveled all over the world and we would rank this breakfast as a 10! The sauna was a great perk and was most enjoyable near by our room.

CanadaWe wish the pool, steam/sauna rooms were open a little later, so we could have enjoyed after a day of exploring the area!
What a beautiful and unique hotel! We loved exploring the grounds and gardens. The hotel was pretty quiet when we were there (November) and felt like we had it to ourselves, which we loved. The breakfast really was exceptional and had us set for our day. Everything was clean and comfortable. The pool and steam/sauna rooms were such a lovely treat! The hotel staff were very kind and attentive. We appreciated the little details, such as having water and apple to take on our way out the door. There were options to dine within a short drive and plenty to see and do along the coast very close by.
