Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThere is no fridge in the room, which might be a bit inconvenient in the summertime. If you are one of those people who find it difficult to sleep when there is noises, you might wanna bring some earplugs because the hotel is in the center area, so there are quite a few parties down the street at night. Personally, I loved the lively night spirits!
My room was spacious and the ceiling is high so the air feels fresh. I especially love the balcony in my room, almost as big as the room itself because it has a beautiful view of the Bento station and the old town area. The receptionist and housekeeping staff are helpful.

NetherlandsBathroom rather small but clean. 2 elevators available, quite small, waiting time in our case acceptable
Location of hotel fine to visit old town, although not in the very center of it. Nice room on 5th floor overlooking square, balcony somewhat outdated and without furniture but nice to have at all. Bed large and comfortable and clean, room itself also though bit small. Excellent breakfast included! Parking nearby in parkinggarage with small reduction in price possible (€15/24hrs)

IrelandRooms didn’t match the description that we booked. We booked 2 family rooms which described at least 2 beds and a sofa per room but neither room had this. They were small rooms, one with only a small double bed, neither with a sofa. Bathroom was a bit grubby and the shower didn’t fully work.
Location was excellent.

United KingdomNo mini fridge in room. Also no main light (just lampshades) which made it hard to get ready at night time. Didn't take the breakfast which was €15 per person which seems a lot for the area but we did go next door and got breakfast for about €5 max so wasn't a huge issue.
Really good location - everything was a 10 mims walk distance max. Good size room, very comfy and clean bathrooms. Friendly staff too

Great location, very central and within walking distance of all main sights. Reception staff were friendly and axoomodating. Rooms were cleaned which we didn't expect as we were only staying two nights. Room was spacious and light.

GermanyI know accommodation is expensive over New Year. We felt that our room was not good value for money. There was a door stopper screwed into the bathroom floor right where you could stand on it when getting out of the bathtub. Or stub your toe on it. Ridiculously dangerous. A couple of coat hooks on the wall near the door would not have gone amiss. In my opinion, the bed was too soft.
Maria on reception is an angel full of knowledge. The breakfast was good - very nice to have an orange pressing machine. The fresh fruit was also of good quality and well peeled and cut.

MaltaBath is difficult to enter due to a glass bath screen , they should replace them with showers. Price is somewhat on the high side for a 3 star hotel. Beware of steep stairs and hills in all of this lovely city.
Central location and good breakfast. Very spacious bathroom. Very quiet. Clean basic hotel ideal for a short stay in the city centre .

MaltaThe double room was great however the toilet is very close to the bathroom unit, it wasn't easy to navigate. The bathroom is too crammed, not much room to move around.
The location is perfect. Very central to the main attractions, main train station and metro station. We had booked two rooms, a double and a triple room. The triple room was very spacious and both rooms were clean. The breakfast was top notch. The staff are very friendly and professional too. Highly recommended.

Hong KongStaff is very reactive. You have to ask for answers. e.g. they have city map, they don't proactively giving to the customers. I had look for tourist information centre for city travel information and day tour recommendation. But they keep sending me emails for paid airport bus 🚍 shuttle service. I stay for 5 nights. They made the beds and change towels. But found the bath tube and desk counter were not clean. I booked for family room for 2 people. They provide only the regular room without the sofa.
Great location. Nice window view of the street.

SpainI booked the room because it was a 'pay on arrival' deal. I had impootant direct debits coming from my bank that day, therefore didn't have the funds to pay from my card. However when I arrived I was told the money had already been taken. When i complained the receptionist was very unhelpful and said they were allowed to do this, when they clearly aren't. The next day I resolved the issue with another receptionist. She agreed to refunding the money, and I paid in cash. But the money took 5 days to be returned, which was too late for my direct debit payments.
The hotel was in a fantastic location tight in the middle of Porto old town. The room was small but good enough and there was a door out on to a rustic balcony with fantastic views.

United KingdomWhilst the room was better than good, the bathroom door frame and door was warped in some way meaning it kept popping open. A bigger irritation was the safe. Having set it up, the next morning it took scores of attempts to open it! From that point we decided against using it. Minor niggles though. (I often see Hotel’s respond to these little niggles with ‘if you’d told us while you were here we could have fixed it’ etc. We are not there as testers - rooms/equipment should work).
Breakfasts at the Legendary Porto Hotel are excellent - a wide selection too. The hotel is superbly located for really varied shopping around Rua S. Catarina, is a few minutes from the funicular down to the quayside, and if you’re lucky, as we were, to have a room looking over Praca Batalha, then the beautifully tiled S Ildefenso church can be seen from your room. It was also very quiet, both internally and externally (although the trams weren’t running during our stay). The staff were all very smiley too, which makes a big difference. Finally, whilst check in is 2pm, we arrived at 10.30 and they had a room ready so we could check in. We were very grateful. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it, although note it is high up (96m) and Porto has lots of hills, some challengingly steep, so bear that in mind.
