We requested a large double bed - but were given only two twin beds pushed together. The location is very beautiful, but a car is essential as the house is 6 Km from the sea and restaurants.

The staff went out of their way to help us. We were unable to book a car, so they arranged a taxi to take us anywhere we wanted to go, and also organised 2 day trips for us - with full consultation..

We had to go downstairs for wifi, signal not good enough in the room. Perhaps part of the "vintage charm" of the place. You have to drive down to the coast for a decent dinner.

The old fashioned "grandeur" of the building and the room, the very good breakfast

Breakfast is inside and would have been nice if there was a terras. Our bathroom smelled a bit like sewage in the mornings. There is a sauna but you have to pay for it.

Friendly staff, nice view, easy to find (many signs), swimming pool, simple breakfast

Only breakfast is provided and one must search elsewhere for meals - some distance for anything other than very basic. The hotel should make arrangements with the next door cafe to provide food for guests staying by the pool etc. The cafe is basic, but happy to provide takeaway sandwiches, salads and basic meals. It would help if guests were informed of this!

The staff. Location and 'feel' of property. The pool.

A bit out of the way. Restaurant closed (in April) and nothing really good anywhere close. Antique TV that I could not get to work. Breakfast with no hot food.

Charming old Quinta with lovely period furniture. I liked the old spacious bathroom. Very quiet. Lovely view over the mountains and bay below. In another location this would be priced very much higher.

The beds (in our room at least) is way beyond their prime time, worn out and must be replaced. Breakfast dull, day-old rolls and very narrow selection of food to choose from. Nothing warm - even no eggs of any kind...

Fantastic old building with a pedigree. Superb location for great views. Everything clean and well looked after. A really nice place to be at!

It was just too far from everything & the restaurant was only open for breakfast. There was nothing other than a cafe next door that closed early.it was a 15 minute awkward drive to & from the town.

The staff ( especially Dalia) were wonderful, the hotel was very comfortable ,traditional & relaxing.

In low season there is little staff, so you are searching for them quite a bit if you need something. Then the hotel can be a maze. And it is a bit far out, so if you don't have your own car, it's hard to get to.

In low season there's a honesty bar in the breakfast area, which works well. The breakfast is OK, not extremely special, but it's a buffet and you can ask for eggs made to order. We went for a swim in the pool in the morning during our stay, and we were refreshed (literally too).

Really nothing. I will be back.

Lovely room with polished wood floors, lovely wooden furniture, lots of wardrobe space. Jacuzzi bath was great after a day's walking. Great views over the town to the sea. Really good value for money. The staff were lovely and even helped me out with a bit of first aid for my blisters. Could have been difficult to find, but is amazingly well signposted. I stayed five days and was welcomed with a complimentary half bottle of Madeira wine and a Madeira cake. Highly recommend.

The weather was cold but the lounge was uninviting. There could have been a lovely fire. Couldn't make a drink in the room and the route to the restaurant required a trip through the rain! No breakfast menu, didn't know we could have had hot breakfast. Understaffed and undermaintained.

Good rooms, comfortable beds, nice location. Very helpful, hard working staff, nice pool. Breakfasts were good.

The bedroom and bathroom were in need of an update but on the other hand it is very reasonably priced.

This is a lovely house with beautiful public rooms. It is very well signposted, so easy to find. The pool area is pretty, the garden around the house well maintained and the view good. The staff are pleasant.

The property have seen better times before but probably it could be regarded as a part of special atmosphere and history. A bit complicated but manageable way to find. The only true "didn't like" is caused by giving us a small double room instead of superior that I had paid for and explanation that the booked room is occupied but anyway we have a little balcony. Not those some euros spent for nothing are the matter...

Big nice old building, farming properties around, singing birds and garden - lovely local atmosphere. Good willing and care of guests personal needs - thank you again for birthday celebration.

Absolutely nothing. I cannot think of anything that could be improved.

Very beautiful Quinta, perfectly restored in original style (like a movie setting), full breakfast buffet, great views, big common sitting and living room with fire, clean swimming pool, lush garden. Everything, it's a paradise. Wish I had stayed here longer to enjoy the atmosphere more. We found the Quinta easily: just follow the signs to Sâo Joâo and afterwards to Alto Sâo Joâo and keep going up this road until you have the sign to the Quinta on your right.
