Quinta das Alfais is a very charming property in the Basilian colonial style set in a lovely garden. The rooms are very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The verandah on the main building is a wonderful place to relax and have a drink in the late afternoon. Teresa is a wonderful host and is a consummate professional. The dinners that we pre organised were delicious. In great proximity to major roads for touring and the rail network to access Porto. Highly recommended.

Fantastic colonial mansion with huge garden and very friendly and hospitable land-lady. Great place to sit back and relax in historic grandeur. Close to the metro into Porto and to the airport. Fabulous service and breakfast.

Therese was a superb host and she served a wonderful meal when the taxi driver turned out not to be working and we couldn't get to the local restaurant. The pumpkin soup was delicious and the cod main was fantastic but the surprise was the profiteroles with chocolate sauce for dessert!

We hired a car which was a good plan - it's set quite far from a town or shops, so you need some transport. But overall I'd recommend it.

The photos don't do the gardens justice - the grounds are great, nicely kept with loads of space; our two year old and baby loved them.

Close to the Porto airport (which is of course an advantage if you fly in/out from there) but also comes with the planes flying over the property and the associated noise.

When you enter the gate it's like entering into an oasis: a wonderful park and the main house as well as the accommodation house and pool are just perfectly placed. Very nice host and great breakfast!

    Nothing, just a great place!

Beautiful garden and pool. Also the house with the veranda is so nice! Just like een oase and only 15 minutes from Porto. Theresa the owner is very kind and helpful. We definitely come back here.

The warm personal greeting after being given excellent directions of how to find the property. Beautiful grounds and a fine home cooked meal with wines could not be bettered.

    Nothing to dislike.

Beautiful old colonial style home, comfortable. Fantastic huge garden with a different amazing view round every turn. Home cooked evening meal with traditional Portuguese fare, with equally good breakfasts. Best of all was the warmth of the welcome from Teresa and Juan, who made our stay so very special.

Teresa was a marvellous host. The evening meals are an excellent option for anyone staying at the Quinta. The gardens, pool and house are stunning. We stayed for 2 nights, wished we stayed for longer.

unanticipated level of road noise from cars going along minor road -cobbled street, behind the bedroom buildings. aircraft noise - however with the chosen proximity to the airport, this was inevitable!

convenience and proximity to Porto airport swimming pool really good food and wine at an evening meal, personally cooked and served by the owner. Portuguese food that was different from restaurant food. informative discussion with the owner after the meal.

The owners of the property were wonderful. They made us feel right at home. Treasa cooked us a very excellent dinner and the gardens were beautiful. Despite the heat and no air conditioning the rooms were cool at night. They welcomed my pug dog as well!

No activities available. No restaurants near so the only dinner available was the one which the owner couple offered. But it was too expensive (20 e)... for a portuguese dinner.

Nice place for those who search for a peaceful environment. Clean but the toilet was not working in the beginning. The owner lady fixed it quickly. Good breakfast. The owner lady was very kind.

The owner is a wonderful cook. It's great to have dinner here at night. I loved the garden and the location is very good to explore the environment: Porto, beaches, Guimaraes. etc
