Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThis property was very keenly priced for the setting and the pool but with a little bit of updating it could command much bigger rents. The owners need to stay in it for a few days. If they did they would recognise that it needs better lighting and the kitchen isn’t really adequately equipped for self catering. Even the kettle that went on the hob was missing its lid so risked steam burns taking it on and off. Having said this I would definitely stay again.
The setting of this property is so beautiful, in the middle of a vine clad hillside with a big infinity pool at the top overlooking the valley. The setting of what is essentially a private pool for 4 cottages is spectacular. The accommodation was a little dark and kitchen poorly equipped but had lots of character and was very good value for money. The welcome basket was a nice touch.

PortugalNo Wi-Fi in the accommodation. Mobile reception is good, so ok if you have a good data package. Very old small TV, without HDMI even. Smaller house (Pombal) living room is tiny and cute but very dark.
Lovely views. Nice houses. (We changed during our stay)

PortugalDepending on which house you stay, you may have to walk uphill to reach the pool. If you are staying at Casa Branca, it is a short walk, between 5 and 10 minutes, but it may be hard with the summer heat. The houses have no internet, and the lighting is quite poor, at least in the living room. They could also have more electrical outlets. You may also need to hop in your car to go to town, because it's a long uphill walk form the farm's gate to the houses/pool.
The houses are located in a beautiful farm, with a large vineyard, and you can buy locally produced wine and olive oil. The pool is amazing, located at the top of the hill, with beautiful views and long sun exposure. The property is very quiet, with trees all around. Torre de Moncorvo is 5 minutes away, walking, from the farm's gate. The rooms were big, each having its own bathroom. The kitchen is fairly equipped.

CanadaNo one there on arrival or departure but staff communication was good. Except for not telling us which building we were in so it was a bit of a scavenger hunt in the rain. The drive up is a steep cobble road with tight turns…but just part of the adventure!
Cool place. Authentic building and vineyard. Loved the woodstove on a stormy night. Quaint little place. Basket of foodstuffs for breakfast which was a very nice touch.

SwitzerlandThe beds were not very comfy. The house itself needs a little maintenance. The staff didn't speak any languages than portuguese which made it a bit hard (i speak german, english, french and spanish).
Location in the middle of the vineyards. A traditional house with a spectacular view. Beautiful details in the house. A nice infinity pool was available with refreshing and cool water (and a Tennis court that we didn't use though).

PortugalThe house gets a bit colder during the night. beside it was not an issue for our days in there, the tv was damaged, it played for a few minutes and then got with no image.
The location is wonderful. Placed in middle of nature with no city noises to bother. In the top of the mountain, you have a great overview to Torre de Moncorvo. The staff is very friendly and always available to help. Please taste the wine, is really good.

PortugalThe only tiny issue we had was that there was just enough hot water in the tank each day of one shower. But I guess it’s very normal for this type of house.
The little house is very typical, made of stones and hidden high up on the property’s hill, overlooking Torre de Moncorvo. The fire place is a perfect addition and there’s also an A/C if the fireplace isn’t hot enough.

United StatesMy wife and I stayed in the one bedroom cottage high up in the winery with stunning views of the Douro valley by day and the sparkling town of Montcorvo just below with its historic church by night. We walked through the winery a short distance to the pool and tennis court and swam in the infinity pool. It was amazing. The people in town were nice but private. We were there on a Sunday and found bustling Pizzaria Panoramica which made us a delicious dinner. We usually stay in 4 star or higher hotels that tend to be forgettable comfort - but this place brought us back to what is memorable in a truly unique experience. We loved the fresh bread, honey, eggs and jams in the welcome basket- and we cooked breakfast and watched the sun shift across the valley in the morning. If you like a little mix from the standard, and are a bit outdoorsy, this is the place to stay!

PortugalThe owner has no passion. Rude and arrogant on the phone contacts. Same towels for 4 nights. No solution. Deal with it. No coffee machine. A “Italian” 1960 coffee pot is not valued by all. The price is over the roof. for the lack of space on the kitchen and on the facilities announced. The pool is quite far from the casa branca house. Feels they stopped in time. Nice photos. No human interaction. All by rude phone calls and emails. Won’t recommend.
The scenery, the vineyards and the swimming pool set the mood. The pictures on Booking are great. But they do not match with the reality.

United KingdomArrived at reception to find it locked. We had already received the key code so not an issue and we went to the casa. As mentioned, there was a welcome basket with fruit, nuts, honey and wine but some more information on the local area would have been welcome, for example local shops, towns, restaurants etc. No sign of anyone from Quinta das Aveleiras so couldn't ask. The casa was at the top of a tight, twisting road, which meant a bit of an effort to get into Torre de Moncorvo. Walking was out of the question. However, we hadn't planned on going out much as this intended to be relaxing. Unfortunately, the kitchenette was not usable, with the bare minimum pans and utensils. There was a two ring electric hob, a microwave and a toaster for cooking. We had just left a mobile home that was better equipped. Meals were very basic as a result. The casa itself was fairly dark, which is to be expected for an old farm building, but the blinds wouldn't stay up and only added to the gloom. Provision for outside space was some old directors chairs but the only outside areas to use them were next to the (admittedly beautiful) spring, which buzzed with insects all day, or next to the air con unit out the back. There was also a sign at the entrance advising not to leave the doors open because of the insects and as a result we spent most of the time there shut indoors with the lights on. My kids said it felt like a prison. Finally, the beds in the downstairs room were so hard that they were unusable. I genuinely considered sleeping in the car on the second night. We booked for four nights, but left after two. We had really looked forward to this part of the holiday, as it was intended to be our time to relax after the city and surf, but had to prioritise eating and sleeping. A real shame as a little investment and effort could transform this place.
Booked as the final few nights of a family holiday. Had stayed in Porto and Nazare previously so wanted somewhere rural where we could relax. The views are certainly spectular from both the casa and the pool. The welcome basket was full of local produce.

United StatesThe view was fantastic, looking down over the valley. The houses are on the quinta, so the mountain road up to them winds through vineyards and olive and almond trees. We rented The Pombal, a converted dovecote, very quaint and comfortable. Easy drive to Vila Nova de Foz Côa, with the museum and tours of the paleolithic rock engravings, and to the Douro Valley.
