The Azores, in general, are beautiful but often moldy. I could smell the musty/moldiness in our room, which would have benefited tremendously through using a quality air purifier. I use the green air purifier at home with the ozone generator. Rotating that from room to room between occupancies would help to knock down some of the mold. i am sensitive to the stuff, and that's one of the only things I don't like about the Azores. Otherwise, it's one of my favorite places in the world to be!

The proprietress is lovely. She and her husband built this place from the ruins of a formerly posh estate. Very impressive effort and obviously a lot to take care of/maintain. It has an 'old world' feeling to it, which I liked.

Far away from things so need to take taxi everywhere. A little bit of a wet mildewy smell in some areas.

    Very quiet and peaceful.

Stately elegance of house and surroundings, excellent friendly staff, excellent custom cooked breakfast, magnificent views. Best value for money ever experienced in Europe.

It is very difficult to find - from the photos did not realise there is a road between the property and the sea. There is no indication on the outside that it is a hotel. Only saw one man on the reception the whole time who was not at all friendly although could speak english. The gym was never open - opening hours were supposed to be 10am to 6pm when most guests are out in any case.

The building and grounds are beautiful - an old 17th century manor house complete with chapel. There are lots of facilities and breakfast was good, but nothing special.
