Nothing the owners can help, but be forewarned that access to the property is via a gravel road on a steep incline.

Historic building in a fantastic location. The place breathes history. Beautiful garden surrounds the property. Very welcoming hosts. Excellent for visiting Monserrate palace before the crowds arrive.

It was a bit difficult to find as we had to go against the signs and the navigation system did not really help to find it.

We liked the personal service and the personal style of this Hotel. To stay there seems to go back in time, we liked the breakfast in the nice living-room together with the other guests also the whole house

    A rustic 16th century Quinta

Location is off the road around Sintra and GPS was not able to accurately get us there. Staff should send each guest careful instructions on finding the hotel. The road to the Quinta is unpaved and rutted, making it very difficult to drive. The rooms were small and the beds were quite hard (slept on top of folded blankets to make the bed easier on my back). The bathroom for our bedrooms were across the hall (and had no hair dryer). Not a comfortable stay.

An elegant 16th century Quinta with lovely grounds and nice views. The shared spaces such as living room, dining room are just beautiful. Breakfast was around a huge old table and very nice. Eggs were cooked to order, a homemade coffee cake and baked egg custard was good. Staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Can't really think of anything, we just really enjoyed the charms of the place

We absolutely love the place. It's top romantic, a little gem hidden away and which stood back in time. Think Downton Abbey grandeur but then very relaxed and homey. The staff are wonderfully welcoming. Great breakfast, amazing pool and gardens. Getting there is like an adventure driving through country lanes (only about 35 min from Lisbon airport) which makes Quinta de Sao Thiago even more special.

We arrived during the daytime, but shudder to think of trying to find the place if it had been dark the first time we arrived. Maybe more info on that fact & how secluded it is would be helpful.

Everything was great - but you do need a car as the guesthouse description indicates.

The grounds of Quinta were beautiful and peaceful. The staff were really friendly and helpful, even going to the trouble of providing us with eggs for drawing faces on for our Easter tradition. We walked to the Palace of Monseratte and spent most of one day wandering in the grounds there before returning to relax by the pool before dinner (which you need to order in advance).

The quinta perfectly matches the mystical spirit of Sintra.
    • Leisure trip
    • Couple

Separate taps for cold and hot water seem strange enough (for the shower there was a normal mixer tap though). We admit it can be a part of historical fleur. GPS location specified on booking.com actually points to the turn to the final road (not to the quinta itself). Obviously that prevents GPS navigator from calculating a wrong route but may be also confusing, so this fact shall be taken into account while approaching.

The quinta perfectly matches the mystical spirit of Sintra. Ivy-covered, sometimes unfinished sculptures scattered along the perimeter of parking squire add additional fascination to this enigmatic place. The sculptures was created by Nandor Balasko, hungarian (transilvanian) sculptor lived here since 1970. We could see the dome of Monserrate palace from our window. The room itself was decorated with orient (mainly chinese) statuettes. Even a narrow road (quite stony, but not too difficult for experienced driver) is rather a part of entourage than a real problem.
