Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

HungaryThe driveway to the private parking area is a bit tricky, however experienced drivers will not have any problems with is. I recommend renting a medium size car (smaller cars are also better for the narrow streets). Our room was perfect with a beautiful balcony, however I recommend this room to couples since the lack of privacy in the bathroom area. (We managed it, however I know that some people find it stressful.)
Our host, Filomena made our stay truly comfortable. The property is a traditional house in Madeira with a beautiful garden and view over the coastline. The breakfast was great with eggs, cheese, ham, fruits and cakes. The place is further away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal, it is a hidden gem perfect for familirs and couples who look for tranquility. It also has parking for a few cars.

United KingdomFrom the moment we arrived on Sunday until our last breakfast this morning, we enjoyed every moment of our stay. A peaceful house, with nice bedroom and lovely garden/terrace Very warm welcome from Filomena our hostess at arrival, she is happy to share information, stories and accommodate your needs Great breakfast on the commonTV. The well fitted kitchen allowed us to have quiet diner on the terrace watching sun set on the sea. Highly recommend for a week stay. Thanks a lot

NorwayIt was a honour to be guest in this beautiful house. Lady Filomena has tried to make a heaven on earth and wants to share that with us. I liked specifically all the comfortable places to sit both indoors and outside. On the balcony, at the patio, in the garden, several living rooms. And a cosy kitchen where you can be the Chef Cook yourself. The organic fruits from her garden, every day some home baked sweet cake with the breakfast. Filomena you are a beautiful lady with a big warm heart.

CroatiaIt is narrow for a car to enter the yard but not too narrow and won't be a problem if you know how to drive.
Everything was great. Host was great, we were welcomed with a smile which comes with tradicional madeira cake and madeira wine. Everything you needed Miss Filomena was more than happy to accomodate you. If you are leaving early just ask and the breakfast will be ready night before. Everything was super clean and nice. House is more than 200 years old but still very beautiful (recently renovated) with very nice garden and a fantastic wiew to the ocean and you can see perfect sunset from your room, balcony or garden. Rooms are even better then on pictures. Would recommend anyone to come to Madeira and chose to stay in this beautiful house.

United KingdomQuite challenging the first time entering the driveway but you get used to it and not untypical in Madeira! Takes a day or so ‘to afapt’!!!
Philomena is the perfect host. Everything immaculate but comfortable and well thought out. The view from our balcony (and shower) was spectacular. We loved watching the beautiful sunsets. Thank you for a very special stay.

LatviaIt was the best holiday of my life so far, also because I stayed in such a luxurious house as Quinta do Cabouco. The lady of the house was very kind and attentive. There are only positive things to say about her. It was the best experience ever. The price-quality ratio is adequate. Believe me, you will not regret if you book a room at this hotel. There is convenient parking for a car. But since this is Madeira, then, of course, the smaller the car, the better.

United KingdomBreakfast is good but a bit repetitive, for a longer stay it could become boring. But everything fresh, and that's not really a complaint just a suggestion :)
Filomena is a great host, it has been a pleasure to meet her. She greeted us with a cake, Madeira wine and orange juice. She has been also very communicative prior and during the stay, The rooms are well kept and clean, in a vintage style. The rooms are in a historical house. Breakfast are nicely served and always on time. Fresh (squeezed) orange juice served each day, fresh fruit and pastry.

The Quinta do Cabouco is amazing. The house is beautiful, cozy, with stunning views, it feels like being in a different world! The breakfast was excellent. We spent there a week and every day received a different kind of local fruit and cake, home made jams, fresh orange juice, etc. Filomena was very kind and helpful with everything. It’s just the perfect place if you want to spend your holidays in Madeira in a really unique place.

SwedenI'll begin with the fact that the host is an amazing person. Filomena made sure to answer any questions we had. The rooms were amazing and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and healthy. The view from our rooms were breathtaking. The location is perfect, you're 5 minutes away from the highway and the possibility to effortlessly get to any side of the island. United KingdomNothing about the place disapponts at all. It's a bit remote from local bars and restaurants but if you taken the time yi read up on the area before you book it won't be a surprise.
The quinta is beautiful, lots of space to relax in. Fabulous views to the coast from the west facing aspect. Having a guest kitchen with fridge, cooker etc is a bonus if you would like to eat in rather than drive out. Exceptionally clean with fresh towels when you feel you need them. Our room on the top floor was well appointed with a sitting area, bright and colourful. Breakfast is varied, Filomina provides fresh baked cake daily and enough food to see you through to at least a late lunch. No pressure on what time you have to leave the table either, so plenty of time to chat with other guests if you want to over a very decent cup of fresh coffee. Overall a little gem.

GermanyFilomena is an excellent host, friendly, kind and attentive. She helped us out with Portuguese to get in touch with the driver when we had a minor car accident. The house is very elegant and of good taste. Our room was not too spacious, but cosy, and the bathroom was super cute. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruits, orange juice and eggs every morning, also cake or muffins as second course. Be aware that the driveway is quite narrow, but big cars are nothing for Madeirian roads anyway ;) As the house is located in the upper valley, expect some noise from the city when windows are open during the night.

Quinta do Cabouco is the perfect rural accomodation! It is very cozy, it gives you a nice homey feeling and you can see the soul and energy put in every detail of this place by Filomena! Ideall for couples/ travellers that enjoy nature and prefer avoiding the commercial or crowded ares; yes, it is recommended to rent a car for reaching the accomodation but i quess most tourists rent a car anyway for better discovering Madeira! We were warmly welcomed and, during our stay it was my husband's birthday, so Filomena gave him a gift! Inside is very clean, breakfast is fantastic, rich, very tasty and includes (aside from the regular menu you would expect) all sorts of local fruits, pastries and fresh juice! The views from the garden and from our window were also spectacular, very good location (nears many beautiful beaches and tourist attractions) and, last but not least, the bed is super confortable so you will for sure have a good night sleep!

United StatesIt's a bit of a drive up the terraced hills of Ribeira Brava, but the benefit of that is fabulous ocean views. The driveway entrance is steep, so the front undercarriage of our rental car rubbed the pavement both coming and going.
Filomena is an exceptionally kind, welcoming host, and we are fortunate that she enjoys sharing her historic family home with others. The view of Ribeira Brava and the ocean is spectacular. We enjoyed eating fresh fruits from the garden. The separate guest kitchen with adjoining wisteria-draped (ocean view) veranda was a lovely space to have a meal or just relax. We also liked the fact that there are only three guestrooms. We had a very comfortable stay here, and would definitely recommend it for couples.
