Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ItalyNothing.
We had an amazing stay at Quinta do Monte Santo. The location was perfect, remote and tranquil on the northern part of the island, surrounded by nature, cows and amazing views. The house was perfect, very well equipped, great for longer stays. You definitely need a car to explore as you aren't nearby any town. We were welcomed by Vania who was very sweet and accommodating, who gave us a delicious melon of Santa Maria, a bottle of wine, can of tuna of Azores and some biscuits and crackers. Overall we truly felt in paradise and we'd love to come back again for longer - Santa Maria is definitely a hidden gem!

IrelandWe regretted not renting a car, but the taxi was reliable and cheap.
Very clean, beautifully decorated. Insect nets on windows were a huge bonus. This is a very rural location, but within walking distance of the Faneca red desert area. Very quiet and rural with cows outside the door. Vanya who greeted us and checked us in was exceptionally friendly and we appreciated the welcome basket. Free washing machine on site.

SpainThe only thing was the shower water temperature, it goes hot and cold randomly, hard to control.
We loved the location, stunning views, very quiet and easy access to all the sites around the island. The house was perfect for 2 people and had everything you need. It has a dolce gusto coffee machine (the one with the larger capsules). There was some salt, pepper & sugar but no oil or shampoo/shower gel so we bought that before arrival. The lady who welcomed us was lovely and the owner left us some local foods and wine to try which was very nice. Would totally recommend & repeat.

CanadaThis was the perfect little home away from home for my week long solo trip. It was charming, cozy and adorable. There is laundry on site, there is a place to have a fire and/or BBQ, there is even an outdoor shower ! I just found it perfect for my needs. I even was visited by a town cat on my first and last day there, which was great. The host met me there and was very friendly and helpful. A cleaning lady came and she even did the dishes. There was a basket with a bottle of wine, which was greatly enjoyed by my friend who I was visiting, who lives on the island. In the basket was also cookies and crackers and a can of very good tuna. She made sure to leave a bottle of water in the fridge so you can enjoy a cool refreshment when you arrive. I recommend this little gem to anyone and I plan on renting it again when I return to Santa Maria. The price was right as well. Affordable. I mixed up the dates and I was able to add an extra night no problem, just gave them cash. One note: if you don't have a rental car or someone to drive you around the island, this location might not be ideal for you. It's outside of town.

NorwayYou should rent a car or scooter, since its not walking distance. But we absolutely recommend to rent a vehicle anyway if you visit Santa Maria.
House on the country side with great views and calm surroundings, but its still close to everywhere on the island. The apartment was bigger than we expected and the host was very friendly. It also has a fully equipped kitchen.

The views, the house is cute, it had everything we needed. We stayed 4 nights, 2 nights we ate at home on the terrace. The owner had prepared a bottle of wine , a lovely local sweet melon and other things for us on our arrival which was really appreciated and a lovely gesture. It was a perfect stay.

GreeceThe property has a damp issue. The kitchen was quite small, particularly if you're a taller person. The sofa in the living room is quite creaky and unsturdy.
Location & friendliness of the host. The property is near a bus stop; however the buses do not come frequently: in fact only twice a day: your own transport is definitely required. The neighbours grey cat is adorable.

SpainThere was a strong smell of dirty cats in the house and area. Two smelly cats constantly paraded around the cottage. They kept sleeping ón the sun loungers and we're constantly trying to get into the cottage every time that we left the windows or door open to air out the place. The shower was the most temperamental shower we've ever used. It constantly changed temperature from cold to almost boiling, no matter how you adjusted it. We finally discovered a solution of turning on the sink tap at the same time to keep the temperature steady. The property also wasn't that clean. We had to clean up a bit before using things. The cutlery was very dirty. We had to poor boiling water over it before using it.
The location is in a more peaceful part of the island, and only about 20 minutes away from the airport. The owner is quite nice and very nearby should you need him. It was nice of him to leave some nice treats for our arrival. There is a washing machine and a clothes líne should you need to wash clothes. The night sky is lovely on a clear night. And the best miradouo on the island is only down the road.
