Keep in mind that the property is half way up the mountain. For me no issue, but keep in mind that it is a steep 15 min walk to the centre of Funchal. Taxi is really convenient and not expensive

The staff was amazing. As of my arrival until departure the staff has been really caring for me and my daughter( 1yo). Beautiful view over Funchal and comfortable large room.

    Allt var perfekt

We had such a nice time in Madeira and in Apartamentos Quinta Mae dos Homens. The facilities are clean, inviting and nicely decorated. Everything is closely looked after, both the pool areas and the green areas. The receptionist Roinio was a real jewel. Patiently explaining everything we needed and wanted to know. Arranging both taxi transfers to and from the airport and our participation in excursions. All the time nice and cheerful

    Nothing we didn't like.

The overall ambience of the place, it's history, the views, the helpfulness and smiles of everyone involved, including the cleaners, it's not in "tourist isolation". Gives it a great "feel".

It was generally quiet but there was some noise from local dogs barking at night.

Our appartment was on the top floor with a balcony and had a fantastic view of Funchal. Everything was spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable and basic kitchen facilities were useful. The location is good. It is just a short walk down to town and there is a convenient bus back up the very steep hill! The cafe up the hill was excellent for breakfast and served delicious coffee and pastries.

A buffet breakfast would be a plus (picnic breakfast is available).

The director was extremely helpful in assisting us with logistics such as late arrival and departture or information concerning the Christmas holiday period (opening of restaurants, shops etc). Great location on the hills, next to a bus stop (2/3 buses per hour), 10’ (steep) walk to downtown, or a short ride back by taxi (5/7€). Calm, great view. Large, comfortable rooms/apartments, peaceful green areas, private parking.

Softer bed mattresses , larger TV monitor . Bathroom fittings starting to age and would benefit from an update .

Friendly attentive staff. Well equipped apartment with cable TV , high speed internet ( 38mps) and elevated views across Funchal harbour. Well kept landscaped gardens and large clean, sheltered swimming pool . Lots of hot and cold water at good pressure. Plentiful buses and cabs all day and night at reasonable rates to get you back up the hill after a visit into town .

Nothing about the property but the roads to the property were very steep and either a taxi or bus required to return. Unfortunately the local dogs had a lot to say during the night and an alarm clock each morning (7.30) when the children arrived for school and played football hitting the moral fencing with the ball.

The apartment was very spacious and the views stunning. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Fabulous view day and night. Spacious apartment. Comfy bed. Regular towel change. Lovely pool. Well served bus stop nearby. Local café had a reasonably priced dish of the day. We liked being in the more residential part of the city and only a 15 minute (but steep) walk in to the old town. Residents of the Quinta were easily recognisable and people were friendly and helpful - the café owner spotted us at the bus stop one evening and gave us a lift home.

The distance to the centre was a bit far after a day's hike, but there is a cheap parking garage on the boulevard with ample space. The school didn't bother me because the apartment was facing the other direction, but the dogs were sometimes annoying.
