Nothing. But if you like a lively hotel this is not the place for you.

Quirky, full of character, location so quiet at night but so vibrant during the day

I am so grateful for having the opportunity to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary together with my wife at Solar do Castelo in mid-March. It was a very romantic place in historical surroundings. Included in the price of the room was the airport transfer in a nice car with a very friendly driver who in an excellent way drove through narrow alleys all the way to the main entrance of the hotel. The staff at the hotel did their best to give us a very special memory. We received an upgrade for our room, and a special welcome gift waited for us in the room. So kind of them! The inner courtyard was also nice and picturesque where peacocks came and went showing their beauty in different ways. They almost sounded like cats when they made their noises, but we got used to that 😊 A very delicious breakfast was served with a lot of different things to choose between for all tastes. They had freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. I have stayed at many nice hotels during the years but never had that as a standard choice of beverage. Afternoon tea or coffee with a lot of different and delicious pastries were also served every day included in the price. Pastel de nata, the local pastry from Lisbon, was a favorite. Gratefulness, happiness, thankfulness and amazement are a few words that describe my memory of staying three nights at Solar do Castelo! If you want to give your wife a very memorable experience which she never will forget, Solar do Castelo is the place to stay at ❤️ I cannot end this review without thanking God the Almighty, our Father in Heaven, for giving us the possibility to stay at the best place in Lisbon!

The peacocks can be noisy but you soon get used to them. It wouldn't stop us staying here again

A lovely peaceful corner of Lisbon to stay after a busy days sightseeing. We had room 3 room on the ground floor which was light and airy with french doors and looked over the courtyard. The bed was very comfortable. The public area was a great place to relax - drinks and cakes were freely available all day, and sparkling wine in the evening. The courtyard is spacious and relaxing. The staff were very helpful. If we return to Lisbon we would stay here again. It is at the top of a steep hill, so a good pair of trainers are helpful.

Situated in a historic building next to the castle, the location offered a charming ambiance. We especially appreciated the delightful private terrace, perfect for savoring breakfast or unwinding in the evening. While the rooms were compact, they were impeccably clean and equipped with everything we needed. The staff was exceptional, displaying utmost professionalism and eagerness to assist with any inquiry. Our experience was truly delightful.

It was LOUD. The hardwood floors are beautiful, but amplify every sound. They had a number of late check ins and I would have thought they were using megaphones to talk to each other. It may have been the location of our (very lovely) room, but I would highly recommend closing the doors from reception to the rooms and getting some more carpets. Also, the window in our room opened WIDE, which I loved, but we struggled with how to have it open at night and still have the curtains mostly closed. Having it tilt open or some other curtain arrangement might help as the room was quite warm.

I LOVED the decor and vibe of the hotel - totally “me”. The staff was wonderful and the location was AMAZING!

The staff were all very warm and friendly. The hotel was clean and catered for your every need from a delicious breakfast offering to free tea, coffee and cakes all day. In the evening there was free sparkling wine and nibbles too…,this hotel is like a home from home but with luxury added. Would very much recommend and will hopefully be back one day ❤️

I liked everything. I visited in December, and because the hotel was near the Castle some streets nearby were crowded. Once you arrived to the hotel street, it was a peaceful place.

Beautiful views, from our room you can see the River Tagus and part of the Castle. There were peacocks flying and sneaking us through the windows. Near to restaurants and touristic places. Near to a bus stop.

The hotel is located within the castle walls and the streets are so narrow and steep that taxi drivers do not like to give service to this area and it is difficult for walking to the center of town.

The hotel is charming, although it could use a face lift. My room was small, but the bed was very comfortable.

Location wise it won't get any better in Lisboa. The heritage hotel was historically parts of the kitchens of the Castelo. They have a little private museum in basement which used to be a water cistern. I have to give credit to our taxi driver to make it through the tiny alleyways I would have surely ruined a car trying. The rooms are large and I had a complimentary bottle of Port wine for our four day stay. You can make friends with the local peacocks during breakfast who'll come visit if you go outside for the nice breakfast buffet. The staff was super helpful and had good recommendations. The historic old town Alfama district is literally just around the corner. What amazed me the most was how calm and tranquil the property got once the tourists from the Castelo leave the district.
