“I really couldn't praise this place enough, and highly recommend it for a visit to Taveuni Island. The absolute standout is the wonderful Sam, Sarah and their family, so welcoming and so full of life. I felt immediately relaxed putting my time on the island in their hands, not only for accommodation, but also for absolutely delicious food and a fantastic tour of the island by Sam's son, both the west and the east coast. Being so close to the airport is a bonus to be able to arrive and leave with ease, but also to be able to watch the planes take off and land which was a treat. There are also two good mini-markets a short walk away, and I highly recommend a sundowner, coffee, meal or just a great chillout place at The Dive Cafe Bar and Grill a short walk away too. Highly recommended, and thank you for making me feel so at home Sam, Sarah, son and family :D”
“The host was wonderfully warm and welcoming and made us feel like part of the family. All efforts were made to help us feel comfortable and looked after. We also went on two amazing day trip tours which were amazing. The food was delicious, even catering for vegetarians. The kitchen is basic and functional to make simple meals as well. The homestay was clean and comfortable, including the beds.
Staying here was a highlight of my daughter’s trip having made friends with the families’ children.”
“I had a perfect time with the most lovable Fiji family homestay. Sia, Charley, Jima and all the boys cared a lot for me and we had an amzing time together! Sia ist the best cook in all of Fiji, better then in restaurant i can tell, love her veggi food, fresh fish, curry and lots of fruits every day..i went horse riding with Charley, with the boys on the boat to honeymoon island for snorcheling, the reef is directly in front the homestay, amazing natural landscape! Pete the driver took me to lavena coastal walk in national park and drives you everywhere on Taveuni 😀i loved the cute dogs and the kids in the village are so fun. My room was nice, i had my own little cozy space and Sia and everyone makes everything perfect, helping me with all questions, embracing me like a daughter (as i'm travelling on my own), i felt welcome like at home. Got emerged in the real Fiji life, I came as guest and left as friend. This family is a jewel and i will never forget this beautiful time with them!”
“I loved the friendly welcome I got from Vinna and Robert and helpful advice regarding tours, local busses etc during my stay.
The homestay was spotless, with freshly painted rooms and new tiles in toilet and shower.
My bed was large, with spotless linen, comfy pillows and mattress, and decorated with a welcome floral bouquet - a lovely gesture.
The kitchen was spacious, with many food items such as spices and sauces supplied for my consumption.
Air conditioner was quiet and efficient, and the locality was only a few minutes walk to the beach, supermarket and airport.
A fresh food stall was at the front of the block serving delicious smoothies etc.
Being beside the airport runway wasn't a problem as no night time operations occur at Matei and no jet aircraft land there.”

“I stayed for a few nights in August 2025 and really much enjoyed my time at Jima's home. Meals are very tasty, the mother of the family (Sia) and the daughter (Jima) are both great cooks (Sia cooks in one of the top resorts in Taveuni). The father (Charlie), who is both a fisherman and a horseman, will help you organize your days, always in a joyful mood. It is a homestay in a village, so by staying here you are trading the comfort of a resort for insights into the local way of living. For me, it was worth it. Little tip: bring earplugs or the rooster might wake you up earlier than planned.”
