Our stay at the Rosedale Hotel was such a pleasure, mainly due to the efforts of Piotr Pirek who made our stay so very memorable. Piotr was attentive, friendly, and professional and seemed to be the man who could and did handle all situations at the Rosedale Hotel. He recommended restaurants for dinner and suggested local sites to visit. He also served as bartender, dinner and breakfast host and waiter, and the all-around man who could and did get anything and everything done. Rosedale Hotel largely owes its success to Piotr and his staff. Otherwise, we enjoyed the proximity to the center of town and the quiet solitude of being able to open our windows at night to listen to the lapping of the water and the sound of the gulls.

The staff were very helpful in helping us find free parking nearby since their car lot was full. We LOVED the all-window dining room, where we sat for dinner, staring out into the sea. The entire location is stunning. Be prepared for lots of photos. Just walk along the row of shops, get some fish and chips or an ice cream and enjoy the view. Some accommodation places are high up on the hill so if mobility is a problem then recommend down on waterfront level. Most accommodations have rooms up stairs as well. I would return again. Tobermory is just beautiful.

Dunvegan was quite central to travelling across Skye for our various planned activities - whisky tour, puffin tour, walking Quiraing, Fairy Pools and Old Man of Storr. The two shops had enough for the grocery essentials and there were several cafes and restaurants to provide choice. The castle was interesting though a bit pricey.

Sconser is quite small but it is central to most of Skye and the Raasay ferry is on your doorstep (lovely walking at the north of the island and up Dun Can, lots of eagles, Brochel Castle, a distillery). The village is set back on a road parallel to the main road and houses look forward to the sea and Raasay and backwards to the mountain Glamaig (great views both ways). The Sconser Lodge Hotel has a cosy bar with open fireplace. Their restaurant is open to non-residents when they can cope with numbers so nip in and chat about available dates well in advance.
