“As I already informed the room’s owner, the surprises were far more than anyone would reasonably expect—and not in a good way. The room we had booked was unavailable upon arrival.
All amenities came at an extra cost, despite being of poor quality.
Breakfast consisted of cheap supermarket products, lacking freshness or variety. If you don’t eat eggs, the only alternative offered was cereal with milk—again, straight from the supermarket shelves.
Using the washing machine cost €10, and a single coffee capsule was priced at €1. The total cost for our three-night stay was €328, but the owner arbitrarily applied a “rate adjustment” that increased the final price. Paying by card incurred an additional 2% fee on the total amount.
The advertised “free parking” is misleading—it’s actually a public space that may or may not be available depending on the time of day.
No elevator available on this building!
The room we were eventually given had undergone some renovation, but there were exposed electric wires hanging from a column. The bathroom and the rest of the room had no ceiling separation, making the spaces feel awkwardly connected. The partition wall with the neighboring apartment was paper-thin—we could hear every sound from next door.
The owner behaved in a manipulative manner. When I asked for clarification about the extra charges on my bill, he offered to refund the full amount and let me pay whatever I thought was fair. On the first day, when I asked why we weren’t given the room we paid for, he admitted the mistake and offered us a bottle of champagne and sparkling water as a gesture of goodwill—only to later add the cost of the champagne to our final bill under “hidden charges.”
I’m sorry to say this, but I cannot recommend this property and would never choose it again. I’ll definitely remember this unacceptable experience the next time I book a room.”
“The owner doesn't speak good English or German, but he is always available and tries to help using Google translator. The location is good and one can reach the city centre in 20 min by foot. Lidl is nearby.”
“Great value for money ! 9 stars out of 10. The mattress on the bed could have been better, but otherwise the room was very clean and better than you would expect for this price. Location is very good, it looks a bit far from city centre on the map, but It is actually a very nice walk through the park, where you can refresh yourself with excellent mineral water along the way. The highlight was the breakfast, which I rate 10 out of 10. We also had dinner in the restaurant and it was also delicious. The only disadvantage is that you can't pay by card. Apart from the few little things mentioned, it is an excellent little guesthouse. I definitely recommend it.”
“Convenient location for arriving into Chodov by bus and depart by train which was close by. There is a Lidl store and a pub serving food a very short distance away. Small, family run pension, though I was possibly the only guest there that night. Friendly host. The room had basic furnishings, but it was comfortable and the bathroom was ok too. A good breakfast in the morning.”
