This place is expensive, but worth every cent. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The location is amazing - views out to sea! We didn't use the pool (we were there late Sept) , jacuzzi or sauna room; but the pool looks fabulous :-). I wasn't sure about paying $15 for a breakfast, but they are very large and a good selection of food. We just filled up on this and didn't need lunch, and it turned out to be the best value meal we had in Maine! I am gluten and dairy free (allergies) and they managed that without any issues - they even had soaked gluten-free oats in almond milk, We travel a lot, and are (sadly) a bit spoiled and picky where we stay, and we loved this place :-)

The view was gorgeous, being able to walk out the sliding door down to the ocean and sit was amazing. The room was clean and very cozy to stay in. The staff were very inviting and made the process easy of checking in and out, they also were good about keeping our room refreshed with fresh towels, soap, etc. I think we will have to come stay again!

We had breakfast two mornings at The Red Cup, an order at the window spot right downtown (I recommend the grilled cheese with bacon). It's right across from the very clean public restrooms. The bookstore was wonderful. Dinner at the Thistle Inn was terrific. And there was an amazing shoe store near the breakfast place. All of it in view of the harbor.

My only complaint is most eateries are closed on Mondays, like most towns, hard to find a good seafood restaurant in the area. Hard to navigate the town, lots of roads were closed due to construction/repairs on the railroad? tracks.

If we had been able to stay longer than 2 nights, and been able to drive to surrounding areas, which were all over another hour plus drive away, we would have enjoyed it more, but we were there for 2 nights and after driving 9 hours to get there, didn't have the energy or time to drive further so we stayed put. Loved the little beach and the adorable house we were in, but driving all that way to sit in the house for 2 days just didn't feel like much of a vacation to me. We also couldn't find scallops anywhere, which was shocking. Lobster rolls cost almost fifty bucks, which is crazy, so we just ate what we brought, essentially camped in a very nice little house. Loved Colonial Gables, but as far as Belfast, not impressed.

Rockland is a beautiful little town, The Rock Harbor Pub and Brewery is a good place to stop for some great food. My visit was mainly for The Maine Lighthouse Museum which i was not disappointed in, i spent over 3 hours in there, so if you are as interested in Lighthouses and their histories like i am then it is the Lighthouse version of Disneyland. I will return to Rockland as i unfortunately missed out on visiting The Matinicus Rock Light. It also has many restaurants.

It's close to Boothbay Harbor, where there are lots of great places to eat, neat shops, art galleries, whale watches, and other fun things. We spent a day at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which was well worth the time spent, and also made a day trip up to Acadia. Next visit, we'll check out the Aquarium (we just didn't have time, this trip). If you go, be sure to stop at Blanchard's Creamery and Cafe. Best ice cream for miles!!!
