  • “Very clean, welcoming and super friendly staff. So nice to have accommodation that was so dog friendly too.”

  • “Everything. The living & bedroom was comfortable and clean with plenty of supplies. Located within a 10/15 minute walk in to central Kirkwall and no more than half hour drive to reach either the east or west coasts of the mainland.”

  • Aultnagar Accommodation Review score: 10

“Friendly and attentive staff. Neat&tidy, superbly clean room (and house in general). Simple but delicious and hearty breakfast. Reliable WiFi. Parking on site. Place is on the outskirts of Kirkwall (2' driving, 10' on foot)in a quiet location with great views on the N part of Mainland and the capital. 100% recommend”

  • Waterfront House Review score: 8

“Had a lovely seat in window with gorgeous view. Also for my purposes a very handy desk with a view.”

  • Karrawa Guest House Review score: 10

“Very lovely area, nice and quiet. Fyona was lovely host, an met all our needs. Will certainly be back again.”

  • Heatherlea Review score: 10

“Probably one of the best B&Bs I have ever stayed in. The room was spacious, the bed was soft and comfortable, and the owner prepared us a packed breakfast because we had an early boat. Next time in Kirkwall that's where I'll book again!”

  • The Reid Hall Review score: 10

“Such a beautiful place on a beautiful island. The host Lin and her husband Adam were lovely. I was looked after and made to feel at home. Highly recommend this spot!”

  • Royal Oak Guesthouse Review score: 8

“Breakfast was lovely. Owners were more than happy to cater to whatever you wanted. Typical Scottish fare for breakfast, so if you're on holiday, you're allowed to splurge a little from your norm. Food was cooked well, fresh and tasty. Fresh fruit already chopped was available if that was your desire...together with Greek yoghurt or to put on your cereal. Home made rhubarb compote...😋...was also on hand. Rooms were clean, warm and each had their own ensuite. Orkney has lots to offer, especially if you're a history buff like me. It also has a host of very talented crafty people, so make sure you follow the craft trail. So many scenic points of interest to mention. As for Kirkwall, it also has a lot to offer especially a very decent barista made coffee. Royal Oak Guesthouse is very centrally located and within walking distance to the centre of town. Stop and view inside St Magnus Cathedral.”

  • Rysa House B&B Review score: 9

“Great B&B experience, host welcoming and very helpful. The room was warm and cosy. Beautiful cats too. The location is a bit outside town but with a fantastic view over Hoy”

  • Braeswick B&B Review score: 10

“Jon was very welcoming and helpful, from letting us leave the bags in the B&B while finishing the cycling the next day, to cooking a delicious dinner for us. The dining room has stunning views over the coastline. I'll be back for sure!”
