“Great experience staying in a quiet and friendly community. It was everything we hoped for and more. We got up at six to ring the bell, and it was really special. After that, Asami's husband told us that we were welcome to join the local residents in their morning exercise, and we did. It was such a nice surprise! We enjoyed the great sense of community here. Later during the temple experience, we learned a lot about the local temple culture. I would highly recommend their guesthouse to anyone interested in having an in-depth understanding of local Japanese communities.”
“The floor futon was actually the most comfortable bed ive slept in while in Japan. The air con was awesome, the shower and facilities were great, i was able to use a bike to explore which was brilliant. The owner is friendly and helpful, even offered to take me to the station in his car. I really enjoyed my stay.
The house is hot at this time of year. The aircons worked well. It is a short walk to everything you need transport, food, washing, vending machines.....🩷. I would stay again.
I used it as my base as i had a bass fishing charter. Was perfect for pickup and drop off. Try Japan bass fishing.”
“I loved this place. It was so clean and quiet and the manager couldn't have been more helpful . A real pleasure to work with . Transport links into Kyoto were pretty good too with 20-30 trains every few minutes. Kitchen well stocked , washing machine and even provided a free parking space for my scooter. And best of all a lovely , comfy bed .”
“Inase Otsu Machiya was an exceptionally beautiful property, having breakfast in the communal tatami room is a highlight in itself. The Japanese-style family room we stayed in was very spacious and extremely comfortable. The staff were extremely kind and attentive, too. The communal bathing area was nicely arranged, too.
For reference, most of the taxi drivers from Otsu station seem to know where Inase Otsu Machiya is, so you should have no issue arriving by foot or taxi (600-800 yen).
Would I stay here again? Definitely!”
“Excellent location right by lake Biwa. It's a hidden gem. The facilities were good, and the owners were very helpful. Those not coming by car or taxi, do check the bus schedules from official websites (not google) well-before, as there are very few buses operating in the route each day. Other than that, everything is excellent. Will visit some time in the future again. :)”
“An incredible hotel in a beautiful part of the countryside! The host was very accommodating and exceptionally kind.
Staying here was a wonderful experience and I seriously recommend it to anyone visiting Shiga!”
“We are so glad that we have been in the Jonnis place. This was one of nicest place we have been yet. Jonni was really friendly, funny, and polite. He showed us the Sakomato (he made a round trip on his car) and told us some interesting stuff about Japan and Japan culture. The accomodation was clean and he had prepared some stuff for visitors (if they need) - I think it's really nice.”
