Skye is beautiful but expensive.
Skye is beautiful but expensive. Lodging is hard to find, expensive. Restaurants are crowded. The weather is..the weather. We hit lots of rain. People told us unusually bad for September. But so much to see there.Guest review byRogerUnited States - 8.0

Good location to access the Isle of Skye as well as locations on the mainland. Plenty of eating places within a short drive to suit all tastes. Lots of interesting places to visit and walks for the more energetic.Guest review byRobertUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Broadford is well located to travel across all Skye, but also not too far from the bridge of Skye to reach back to mainland. It has a supermarket and some restaurants. A walk on the shore is beautiful.Guest review bySimoneSwitzerland - 6.0

There’s not much to see and do in Stornoway but it is an excellent base for exploring Lewis and Harris. It was easy to reach the main tourist spots of Ness, Callanish, Carloway and Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. Also not far to experience the stunning scenery of Harris including the famous Luskentyre Beach. In Stornoway itself, the walk to the Iolaire Monument and the visit to the Lewis Castle Museum were both worth doing. The best place for lunch was Lantair.Guest review byIsobelUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The entire location is stunning.
The entire location is stunning. Be prepared for lots of photos. Just walk along the row of shops, get some fish and chips or an ice cream and enjoy the view. Some accommodation places are high up on the hill so if mobility is a problem then recommend down on waterfront level. Most accommodations have rooms up stairs as well. I would return again. Tobermory is just beautiful.Guest review byElaineAustralia - 10.0
Craignure is beautiful even in poorer weather.
Craignure is beautiful even in poorer weather. If planning to eat out of an evening this would be best booked in advance as there was only one pub serving food near the ferry terminal and they stopped serving at 8pm.Guest review byShaunaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Port Ellen is perfect for whisky lovers.
Port Ellen is perfect for whisky lovers. There are many great distilleries in walking distance (Port Ellen, Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Laphroaig and soon another one) and many more by bus or taxi (but taxis are sometimes hard to get and there is no Uber available).Guest review bySilvioSwitzerland - 10.0

Dunvegan was quite central to travelling across Skye for our various planned activities - whisky tour, puffin tour, walking Quiraing, Fairy Pools and Old Man of Storr. The two shops had enough for the grocery essentials and there were several cafes and restaurants to provide choice. The castle was interesting though a bit pricey.Guest review bySuzieAustralia - 4.0

It was a beautiful island, but without activities, you might as well make a day trip and spend the money on better accommodation in the area, where you also have the option to choose from more restaurants.Guest review byEmanuelSweden - 10.0

Sconser is quite small but it is central to most of Skye and the Raasay ferry is on your doorstep (lovely walking at the north of the island and up Dun Can, lots of eagles, Brochel Castle, a distillery). The village is set back on a road parallel to the main road and houses look forward to the sea and Raasay and backwards to the mountain Glamaig (great views both ways). The Sconser Lodge Hotel has a cosy bar with open fireplace. Their restaurant is open to non-residents when they can cope with numbers so nip in and chat about available dates well in advance.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom
