“Wild Hideaway is a small place with two rooms and one cabin, called The Suite, where we stayed in. Location is great, close to the entrance of Wilpatu. Staff is really friendly and helpful. We did find it too expensive for what it had to offer though.”
“This was an amazing stay! We stayed in the suite and it was amazing. The room is very good but what makes this place special is the staff. They are so friendly, helping with everything and making sure that your trip is perfect! We have already travelled a lot of places but this is by far the best stay that we ever had!”
“Unique place, modern villa, very welcoming team, clean and fully equipped, great BBQ (to be ordered before), fantastic full day safari organised with Life of Leisure (elephants, leopard, buffalos and much more)”
“Great nice place. Lots of space. Kind host, delicious meals. Safari can be arranged by the host, it was perfect. Included breakfast and lunch and great guide and driver. The house is all good, nicely built and maintained. Unique views, also by night with all the wildlife. Payment by card possible.”
“Our stay here was fantastic. The place is incredibly spacious, with a large living room and two bathrooms, which made it very comfortable. The pool right by the property was perfect for relaxing, and the host was exceptionally friendly, even preparing delicious meals for us. Communication was quick and easy from start to finish. We were pleasantly surprised to find a washing machine as well — such a bonus. Highly recommended!”
“The room was clean and comfortable, and Buma, the host, was very welcoming. The family dinner cooked by his wife was delicious and no spicy, you must try that! Breakfast was also great, with coconut milk rice and caramelised onion, and fresh fruit.”
“The room is brand new (opened 1 February 2025), the airco is working very well, the patio with the seating area is very nice.
Manju and his wife are excellent cooks. We got probably the best rice and curry we've had on the island 😋
The safari was very well organised with a chauffeur and an English guide (ask for it, with extra fee, but totally worth it!). The guide taught us everything we wanted to know about the flora and fauna of the Wilpattu National Park and also some history of Sri Lanka.
And breakfast, lunch and snacks are provided by Manju and his family, so - again - delicious!
We've had some problems with the wifi and the swimming pool (misunderstanding) that were taking care off by the manager who lives in Colombo.
We asked so he explained that every money that is made is put back into the community. Manju and his family benefit, but the rest of the community does as well. They provide clean drinking water, books and supplies for the local school. And the safaris are arranged by 3 local families.
They don't advertise with that, but if the pictures don't win you over, this story definitely must!
We highly recommend staying here!!”
